Might as well have been called Ambroxan on the Rocks...
I was really excited to try Apple Brandy on the Rocks. The notes have tempted me to participate in a sharing. Yesterday I tested Apple Brandy on the Rocks at my leisure and would now like to share my impressions with you.

Unfortunately, Apple Brandy on the Rocks is not really fruity and also not necessarily spicy. Here we also already come to my problem: Apple Brandy on the Rocks smells very very strong Ambroxan here I would speak of an Ambroxan amount as with Dior Sauvage. Unfortunately, this strong ambroxan note extremely limits the other notes from developing. The pineapple is able to come through easily and lends a gentle fruity note, but unfortunately the ambroxan again suppresses further development. A rum note, cedar wood and cardamom note can also still assert itself somewhat. The other notes don't come out at all. With a lot of imagination, maybe some vanilla. Unfortunately, Apple Brandy on the Rocks is 75% for me only Ambroxan and that really spoils the fragrance for me across the board.

A similarity to Boss Bottled I see here but also, although I find the Boss even slightly more pleasant.

Apple Brandy on the Rocks is really a disappointment for me. The bottle also has again this very cheap-looking plastic lid like Angels Share. In an expensive perfume I expect here just about more.

The association of liqueur I have not really here, here was also missed for me the subject.

The shelf life is also only in the midfield. After 7 hours, Apple Brandy on the Rocks is already gone. The silage, however, is quite good. Apple Brandy on the Rocks remains for a good 5 hours really at an arm's length perceptible and is only then slowly skin.

Apple rum with a very nice drydown
The Liquors range from Kilian. For me, this is one of the most beautiful bottles on the market and I am also impressed by the boozy concept of this fragrance. This series consists of 4 fragrances, where of course Angels Share is the undisputed champion. In terms of fame and sales figures by far. This Apple Brandy follows ahead of the less popular L'Heure Verte and Roses On Ice, which I have not yet tested.
I've been eyeing this Apple Brandy for a while. I love fruity fragrances and I also love boozy fragrances. The combination of the two is very tempting and this perfume also harmonizes with it. It's also a dream in Angels Share, of course, but here it's more fruity and not as heavy.

I can only recommend Apple Brandy On The Rocks to a limited extent. I find the RRP of €220 very overpriced. The new 100ml bottles at €350 are also very expensive. If you can find the 50ml for less than 150€, you can consider it. Even though I think the quality here is already high, this DNA is a bit designer a la Boss Bottled Intense. However, I love this boozy note with this great sensual drydown, so if you like apple, I would recommend testing it. As I said, the implementation is really good and the notes look high-quality, despite the ambroxan in the pyramid.
As I said, the bottle is really pretty. This glass is perfection and a real eye-catcher for a great collection. The box and atomizer are also flawless and great. It's also great that you can refill this bottle for less thanks to a refill bottle. This is more sustainable and cheaper, which I think is absolutely great.

You don't necessarily have to like boozy notes in the fragrance. Even though the rum note is very strong in the first few hours, it is very pleasing and a real crowdpleaser in combination with the fruity notes. The top note is really great with an apple note. According to the pyramid, no apple is listed, but pineapple. It definitely has an apple vibe, but also a bit of sweet pineapple. The apple is rather greenish and elegant. There is also a hint of cardamom, which gives it a pleasant spiciness but never pushes itself to the fore. Boozy rum is present in the first 3-4 hours, but is rather mild and pleasant. It also has a sweetness that is not too sticky. After around 4 hours, the drydown is very woody with lots of ambroxan, which does not come across as cheap. A sensual woody-sweet base that gives the fragrance a great finish.
Performance is absolutely fine. I perceive it for at least 8 hours, whereby it does not project too violently with a medium sillage. This makes it a versatile fragrance that you can wear in everyday life without any problems.

Overall, a fragrance that I can absolutely recommend at the right price. Especially for people who prefer the pleasing niche. This fragrance has charm and is quite easy to like, despite boozy rum.

The latest booze hound from Paris
So here we have the latest booze throttle in the Liqueurs series, the Apple Brandy on the Rocks.

I would classify Apple Brandy on the Rocks as sweet and spicy. Like all the fragrances in Kilian's Liqueurs line, this one comes in a bottle that resembles a whiskey glass. The workmanship is on an absolutely great level. Here, every euro spent is noticeable. The cap is unfortunately only plastic, but I understand the background to this. If this is also made of glass and would fall down, it would be a shattering nightmare. The plastic is thick though and doesn't look cheap. In the front we have a gold plaque with the fragrance written on it. The sprayer is signed with the Kilian logo on the top. The quality of the actual sprayer is good. A fine mist of fragrance comes out here.

But now we come to the fragrance itself. There is no apple listed and that although we have to do here with an Apple Brandy. The pineapple is but in conjunction with the bergamot an accord that comes very close to the smell of an apple. When I go very close to the skin with my nose in the opening, I actually smell more the pineapple out. The very fresh opening gives way relatively quickly to the heart notes of rum and vanilla. The rum really gives the scent an alcoholic note, which makes the name Apple Brandy fit very well here. The vanilla gives the fragrance some sweetness. For my perception even a little too much, but I'm also not a fan of very sweet fragrances. But it's currently 20 degrees outside and I tend to see the scent more in the fall and winter on cool evenings. From therefore, the sweetness in these environments or conditions can also act more appropriately.

From the more distant sillage, the fragrance has in places by the ambroxan, that here, by the way, not very scratchy or unpleasant, a slight shower gel note. This is then somewhat reminiscent of Mont Blanc Legend in a more upscale version. In the later drydown, the sweetness is cut back a bit and the cedar spreads out more. These woody aspects create the necessary variety to develop the fragrance not completely in a sweet-showery direction.

The performance of Apple Brandy on the Rocks is about 6-7 hours on my skin. That's not particularly long, though temperatures are also currently too high for this type of scent. The sillage is quite pronounced for the first hour, before the scent then becomes skin deep. You can't fill entire rooms with Apple Brandy on the Rocks. And I don't think that was the intention either. I see the scent more in a more intimate situation. Apple Brandy on the Rocks works on me like the perfect evening companion for a nice dinner, shared hours for two or at an event in beautiful evening wear.

Let's move on to the alternatives for Apple Brandy on the Rocks. The cheaper one would definitely be Boss Bottled Intense. Both scents have a distinct commonality due to the apple note. But while the Kilian goes more in an alcoholic direction, the Boss develops into an apple compote. The basic DNA share the fragrances but.

In the higher-priced segment, the Layton or the Carlisle of Parfums de Marly could please. Both also put the apple in the foreground here. The Carlisle goes then later rather in an apple tobacco direction while the Layton smells like the Boss Bottled Intense like a warm apple strudel. Performance of both PDMs is clearly above Apple Brandy on the Rocks. Price-wise, the scents don't take much away from each other on a price per mil. At discounters, however, the PDMs are even cheaper than the Kilian.

As a conclusion, I have to say that you get here from Kilian exactly what is advertised. A warm, spicy apple-dominated fragrance with a clear alcohol impact, which unfortunately leaves something to be desired in the performance, but is absolutely predestined for hours together for two.

Balmy summer night, apple spritzer with shot in the park
Kilian, even if again and again sharply criticized by some or mildly smiled at.
Still one of my favorite houses.
The big and older brother of the "On the Rocks" the former City Exclusive fragrance Apple Brandy - New York represented one of the first points of contact after the iconic Straight to Heaven for me with the brand.
And what a contact it was. Apples, brandy, wood - I was blown away, drunk with joy.
Deep, full-bodied, pleasant - warm pleasure somewhere between distinguished and drunk at the village fair.

Now so some years later the "Flanker". Clear was immediately: The must here. Blindbuy.
In most Cases....not the smartest move, but.....well. Kilian had disappointed me so far rarely.
And not this time either. At least in terms of scent.
On the Rocks smells a lot "softer", airier and fresher than the role model.
Starts a little "tangy" with a slightly fruity note, should probably be the pineapple.
In my nose, however, nüscht with freshly cut pineapple zutun, rather anklänge of bergamot, but not directly penetrating citrus.
Rather like a mixed with some rum and Berentzen sour apple apple spritzer from which one has shaken a large part of the carbonic acid.
Although directly Boozy in the top note, but less "heavy" and slaying, as in the original
This light freshness pulls through the whole fragrance, almost to the base.
Vanilla, I perceive only very subordinate so that no too sticky sweetness spoils the course.
Ambroxan + moss come through with time and the fragrance presents itself somewhat greenish background.
No gloomy forest, no clammy musty moss, more like the dewdrops on a damp meadow. Associations of fresh and cool could arise.
The rum is consistently perceptible, but without this warmth in the original of a quaffable glass in a wood-paneled well heated gentlemen - lounge can be thought.
Is really conveyed rather the modern club atmosphere that you expect in the Big Apple aka NY. Lots of cool glass, metal and undercooled disdainful facial expressions.

All in all, you get with the fragrance exactly what you expect from the name, the DNA of Apple Brandy with a fresh twist. Without drifting too much in the shower gel / Saubermann or Zitrik / Freshness direction. A Beautiful Balance - Act between Heavy - Boozy and Fresh - Airy.

Now to the drum around, because here I find Kilian has mined hard. I've always been a little flacon and packaging snob, if I pay good money it should not only smell good but also be presented appealing.
The bottles, the coffrets and the whole presentation used to be a huge plus for the brand.
I bought my first flacons before Esteé Lauder took over the brand and this is now my first one after that and what you get for the price is unfortunately a joke.

The flacon design is a very nice idea, but implemented absolutely cheap.
From afar Hübsch, but as soon as you have him in hand and pulls off the cap an insult to any sense of aesthetics. Cheap plastic, with a poor fit and hold. The badge on the front paper-thin, almost like a sticker stuck on it.
The whole thing packaged in a featureless tiny black cardboard box.
No metal box, no velvet, nothing. Cost saving where it only goes. Whereby for 180 euros....
Well, at least the sprayer is really good, fine mist. No coarse particles.

Durability and sillage both for the proud price and the fact that in addition to the fresh notes with other notes especially in the base is also worked rather in the lower midfield.
Starts the whole in the first 30minuten quite brachial and well erriechbar for the environment, so the magic after 4-5h is only Hautnahe for my nose perceptible, no comparison to the original.

Overall, an absolutely beautiful fragrance, round, pleasant Immergeher ( as long as you have no problem with being asked if you have a sit :D).

Price - performance but mMn only for fans of the brand or lovers of Boozy fragrances justifiable, who is looking for a nice Ausgehduft or just nen Freshie comes elsewhere even with 2 bottles cheaper away.

Beautiful thing
The Apple Brandy on the Rocks has for my perception just at the beginning of a nice pineapple note in combination with cardamom.
Likewise, I also get directly this pleasant beschwipste rum note. The vanilla is finely used and also does the fragrance good. This mix I really like.

Fruity, sweet, slightly tipsy and also a great spice.
With the passage of time, it becomes increasingly sweet and spicy for me.
The pineapple pulls back without, however, so that the fragrance no longer seems fruity. I feel him still as quite fruity, but the pineapple is no longer so specifically to recognize.
Towards the end comes this quite discreet woody with it.

I found the performance as quite successful.
It lasts long, the projection is somewhat weaker.

Gorgeous fresh-sweet summer scent, arguably top of its class in profile, but sillage max 2h and longevity 4-5h. Can still be worth it.

A cardamom flavored rum that dries down admirably well into a woody, slightly synthetic base. A good fit for colder weather.

Take the ambroxan-cardamom combo from Vodka on the Rocks and add it to Apple Brandy New York. Straightforward job.
