Shortbread recipe
Uncommented fragrances No. 145
I like lavender, but I don't like gourmands. Here now is the combination of two worlds that no one ever thought they would find together. What am I supposed to think? Do I like it?
What I find charming is the good balance between a fresh touch of lavender, which lasts for quite a while, and the gourmet note, which therefore does not dominate alone for a long time. In addition, the top with butter, caramel or butterscotch gives a good balance. Moreover, the overall note mentioned above with butter, caramel resp. sugar, vanilla and salt (not mentioned above, but definitely recognizable) simply makes a recipe for shortbreads, if that tells the inclined reader* something: These are those buttery, almost a bit rancid smelling, salty and sweet tasting, super fat and probably calorie-rich cookies, which take a bit of getting used to for continental Europeans, but which actually taste really good after getting used to British whims.
In case nobody believes me again, here is a recipe for shortbreads to bake and to compare the smell:
The dough is made from:
400 g wheat flour,
125 g sugar,
Packet of vanillin sugar,
250 g butter,
2 - 3 pinches of salt
Put the ingredients into a mixing bowl and knead everything with dough hooks first at the lowest, then at the highest level to a smooth dough and then place in the refrigerator for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cover baking tray with baking paper. Preheat oven.
With top or bottom heat, set to about 180 °C, with hot air to about 160°
Then roll out the dough on a lightly floured board to a thickness of about 1 cm, cut it into 2 cm wide and 6 cm long sticks (classic shape) or shape it as desired with moulds and prick the surface several times with a fork. Then place on the baking tray with the baking paper and bake on the middle shelf.
Baking time approx. 20 to 25 minutes! The shortbreads should traditionally be baked rather lightly.
Then remove from the oven with all the baking paper and let it cool down in peace.
Then eat! Br />
But before you do so, place a pot of lavender on the dining table and smell both at the same time.
The result is the same as with this fragrance. If you do not have time to bake, choose this fragrance!
