This is such an outstanding extraordinary creation!

I love every single note I smell! Right from the beginning until it dries and settles down.
The enchanting aroma of narcissus sweetened just a little bit by mimosa. Tobacco is striking you in an intense way you can hardly resist! Hay tones are also there, to form the whole composition in a unique way!

I have a small decant spray of this masterpiece, I wish I could obtain the magical bottle!
Even though the sillage is not good, the longevity is quite normal and satisfying!
Highly reccomended!

Fleur de Narcisse
This fragrance opens with a strong alcoholic root-y note, reminiscent of a herbal tincture. What I see can be described as vegetal/herbal, sweet yet bitter at the same time. As the fragrance progresses it gradually softens and I detect traces of hay and smoke mixed together with root-y florals. If I had to associate a colour and a texture to this scent, it would be a dark amber and gooey. Unusual and complex, this fragrance is quite hard to wear. However, should it agree with your skin chemistry it is a very sophisticated scent.

Where Narcissus is Daffodil
It's funny how the name "daffodil" connotes to me a sort of country bumpkin, hoi polloi flower, which some tobacco-chewing hick might pick to give to his sweetheart. "Narcissus" conjures up, in contrast, the image of a regal princess adorned in lavish purple velvet robes and covered with jewelry made of gold. Perhaps this is peculiar to me...???

Anyway, L'Artisan Parfumeur FLEUR DE NARCISSE smells a lot like daffodils to me, as it has a marked dirtiness that I'm not accustomed to sniffing in the creations from this house. Even their leathers always seem so gentle (and genteel...), but here I find some seriously dirty daffodils, their roots all covered with soil. This composition also has a slightly sour cast, which definitely makes it seem more complex than a little bunch of freshly picked daffodils, but I'm not sure that I really like what I smell.

In an effort to determine whether I actually like FLEUR DE NARCISSE, I decided to do a side-by-side with Caron NARCISSE NOIR, which I have not worn in a while. The verdict? I guess that I'm just lucky, 'cause I very much prefer the sweet narcissus of the Caron to the dirty daffodils of L'Artisan. (Phew, what a relief!)
