En Voyage chez l'Artisan Parfumeur:16 Mon Numéro 9 - Pisco Sour
Citrus, green and fresh fragrances - I often do not get lost in this scent direction. Sure you like to smell fresh, however, most fragrances from this direction are too one-dimensional for me, touch neither my emotions nor my imagination.
Quite the opposite of this one, which reminds me of my time in South America 2 years ago when I visited my brother. The story is somewhat adapted to emphasize the scent associations.
I'm walking through the alleys of Cusco, Peru. The air is thin, my lungs have not yet adjusted to the environment, only yesterday I was completely over my mild altitude sickness and I had to get out of my hostel bed.
It was not yet late, when I was drawn to a bar on the slopes of the former Inca city. An insider tip according to Lonely Planet, one of the most popular travel guides. And so the secret tip remained none, because one backpacker lined up to the next. A room full of young people, which were thirsty, they experienced but the most exciting time of their lives so far.
Scuriller way this bar was very western approached, tequila shots are prepared. The usual mess of lemon juice, alcohol and salt was being makeshiftly mopped up with a clump of crisp green twigs, by a barman in a dusty jacket who was far too old for this party. You could not only tell by looking at him, but smell it just as much in his cologne, which was far too classic for this place. Something familiar and yet forgotten, which went in the direction of fougere. Rather repulsed by the backpackers, even though I was one myself, I was drawn to the far corner of the bar with my Pisco Sour.
I watched the small gentleman, his furrowed face spanned with weather-beaten skin. What was this man looking for here? Was it just a job, or was he comfortable in this place that didn't suit Peru at all?
What was his life like before the great tourism and travel boom that so subsequently affected this country? And was he happy with the change?
It didn't last long at this bar, I didn't think much of the music and was still a bit wobbly on my feet.
On the way to the hostel, the memory of the old Peruvian's cologne had long since faded.
There's nothing directly alcoholic about the scent, but the well-made citric makes me think of cocktails. Really nice for the summer.
And unlike most good fragrances from l'Artisan Parfumeur, this one isn't set yet either.
Sillage and durability are not as low as described here average, for the fragrance it meets the average.
Thank you for reading my comment.
