En Voyage chez l'Artisan Parfumeur: 10 Skin on Skin - smelly rubber skin
Skin on Skin sounded to me like it danced out of line with the rest of l'Artisan Parfumeur's range, which doesn't have to be a bad thing.
A purchase candidate I did not hope for me, however, I was already surprised how little I like this, I could so far every perfume from this house wring something.
Skin on Skin starts with a gummy bear note, no Haribo but the one of the organic versions, as you know them from Alnatura. This image does not remain long, but changes by lack of sweetness in the authentic smell of rubber seals of preserving jars. In addition, fermented apple, as well as some synthetic saffron mixes.

A concept fragrance that neither rises, nor I like.
Musk plays along, but at most second fiddle. Lavender and rose seem highly synthetic and cheap. Over time, everything smells verschmorter, more and more plastic. Only and only the decreasing sillage is a boon, the concept of skin smell or the smell of skin on skin, however, one comes no closer.
Many perfumes have tried to embody intimacy or even the act of love itself, some more others less successfully. But honestly, how about scent associations that are more fitting?
Salty? Mildly soft? Light creaminess something floral, freshly washed laundry?
Or if it needs to be a little more pronounced, musk, wet chords, some animalic, rough tones.
Nothing like that we have here, just a synthetic blend that takes no real course, lingers skinily and gives me a headache.
At most, skin on skin, rubbing dry against each other until black warm crumbs form, or a particularly cheap Parisian. Sexy is different.

I know of l'Artisan Parfumeur other fragrances and also Bertrand Dechaufour has in my eyes, except for a few outliers, the reputation of creating complex laden but balanced and balanced fragrances.
This one is so not that at all. None of it.

Thank you for reading my comment

Cotton Candy on Skin, More Aptly...
What a gorgeous bottle! Found myself accidently in Barney's tonight with the full line and - L'Artisan I must protest...where is the love? Where is the passion? The soul of this fragrance has been sucked dry. I love sampling fragrances! This is a prime example of why...disillusionment is mentally healthy. The reality check of what I imagined to be in the bottle called "Skin On Skin" and the stark contrast of first synthetic dry cleaning chemical followed by a faint puff of cotton candy-white musk- straight out of a "Baby Soft" commercial is almost laughable. This whisky is watered down and tepid, the leather- synthetic. If I had to name the notes myself I would say Cotton Candy, Dry cleaning Fluid, Rose, saffron & gentle musk and brown sugar accord. I find this sickly sweet at the moment. To me this leans to the femme side a bit and as far as wearing it- night club, Girl/Boy- moderate sillage and lasting about 8-10 hours, surprisingly. If you adore Jovan's "Vanilla Musk", Fresh "Brown Sugar", "Pink Sugar" and Love's "Baby Soft"....come hither- delicate, powdery and sweet, you will be!

Corporate not Corporeal
One of three fragrances in the new Explosions d'Emotions collection by Bertrand Duchaufour for L'Artisan Parfumeur, Skin on Skin is a lovely scent. I have no explosions to confess, however.

This fragrance is intended to capture the contact of one person's skin with another's in a tumble of sex and passion, a "wanton embrace" says the ad copy.

Perhaps the first clue that I should not expect anything too raunchy or abandoned is in the image chosen to represent the scent. The naked man and woman are posed in a stagey and disengaged embrace, she gazing into the middle distance, nary a hair out of place, lips pursed and one eyebrow arched. His gaze is on her, but not in a hungry way that suggests he's reading her moans and palpitations to guide or ride with her to the heights of passion, rather he gazes in a way that indicates his focus on her is as a plinth on which to display his biceps to best advantage… but the fragrance?

Let us spray…

My first impression is dry and dark: there's a slightly bitter saffron and a woody whisky. Also there from first spray is a lovely leather and suede that bring to mind the lived-in, body-warmed, and slightly sweaty saffron and leather of Etat Libre d'Orange Tom of Finland.

As the prominence of all these initially assertive notes settles to form the base of the scent, the heart emerges, more puff than pulse and pump. On me there is a plush and powdery iris and a cloud of the sweet cosmetic violet rose so familiar to me from L'Artisan's own Drôle de Rose. My skin amplifies this rose, it continues sweet, prominent and persistent, but this was not so for other wearers who strained to detect rose on their skin. A shy line of lavender also weaves through, the deep and sweet purple floral of a Hidcote lavender, nothing camphorous or fresh. As the scent wears, an impression also comes of the rich sweetness of thick cream, a hint of vanilla egg custard and a clean powdered sugar. Perhaps these are the "skin effects" listed amongst the notes.

For me the fragrance evokes feelings of comfort and care. Rather than a "wanton embrace", Skin on Skin evokes a shorthand contact between long term partners. It distills the adventures and mishaps of their lives together, but is exchanged at leisure in a time of peace, prosperity and safety. More corporate than corporeal, this scent brushes the back of a hand on the beloved's forearm, making a brief private connection in a public space. Darling… together… we… I adore you.

In Skin on Skin, all the elements are there from the beginning. They shift and settle, bloom and fade but it's all there at first spray. It's elegant, well composed, attractive. It speaks of affluence. Its personality is not strong enough to exclude it from any situation. It wears close, and although the rose was more radiant on me than others, it is not a diffusive scent. Staying power is good.

This collection of three new fragrances for L'Artisan gleam like jewels in their bigger, squatter bottles, with bigger, scarier pricetags. For Skin on Skin it's a like and admire for me so far, and I am motivated to give it a good few more wearings.

Go in peace,
Sister Mary Magdelene, Patron Saint of Perfumers.

Skin on Skin, huh? Smells more like Hard Candy on Suede to me. Iris aside, this is essentially Duchaufour's cover version of Daim Blond.

Mainly two notes: slightly smoky leather and lipstick accord. Both notes take turns until the scent becomes close to the skin.
