Greenish, Sweetish, Twiggy Orange
Another site lists these as the notes for L'Occitane RUBAN D'ORANGE:
sicilian orange, fir, tonka bean, mandarin orange, bitter orange, vetiver, cedar and lemon
All of this fits with my experience of this simple yet satisfying orange-centric natural eau de toilette. There is a sweetness (tonka bean) to the orange scent, which reminds me of candied Clementines from Nice. There is a greenness (fir), which reminds me of a cool tree-filled forest. There is a scratchy woodiness (vetiver, cedar), which reminds me of broken twigs snapping under my feet in autumn as the leaves are falling, orange, yellow, red, and brown from the trees. Above all, there is the marked scent of unripe orange zest and ripe orange fruit flesh, making it impossible not to think of my trip to Seville, where I saw the famous orange trees in all their glory.
All in all, this is a very nice combination of notes! RUBAN D'ORANGE is quite different and less complex than the Hermès ORANGES VERTES, but it is also distinct and likeable in its own right. Despite all of the citrus notes listed, RUBAN D'ORANGE is much less acidic than many orange-centric all-natural fragrances. The drydown is especially smooth. A good choice for those who find bracing citrus too overwhelming to wear. (I do not...)
