Skin cream
At first you can perceive a very invigorating and also peppy, aromatic, tangy - spicy note, which appears very bright and soft and is due to the 3 pepper varieties, which were used in such a way that you don't get sneezing attacks, but it tickles in the nose and gives the top note a nice interesting aspect
This constellation is perceptible on my skin for 20 minutes before the heart note unfolds.

The 3 pepper notes are more dimmed, but still well perceptible in the heart note, which in my opinion are responsible for the fact that the smell receives no heaviness, but an almost vanishing lightness.

It becomes a little deeper, quite slightly sweeter, strikingly woody, with the sweetish nuance of the woody note taking precedence and coming from the liquorice.

The liquorice is coated with a fine spicy note, which provides an amazing depth and comes from the cinnamon.

These two notes lie like a second skin on a sweet, balsamic honey-like nuance of beeswax, which appears to me not waxy, but rather like a discreet skin cream, wrapped around.

The heart note is perceptible on my skin for 3 hours before the base asserts itself.

The base is dominated by a sweet but not sweet honey, dipped in Bulgarian roses and lotus, which produces something very delicate.

The "blossom honey" is very creamy, with a light - distinctive spicy note underlined, which triggers a beautiful "feel good" and is thanks to the sandalwood.

Both notes are supported by a subtle resinous nuance that provides a beautiful "grounding" finish.

Unfortunately I could not perceive vanilla, but I can very well imagine that it was used for "completion".

Poivre Piquant is a pleasant all-year-round companion for women and men of all ages who are looking for a deep, yet light scent that appears like a warmly seasoned liquorice skin cream.

In total, the fragrance lasts 5.5 hours on my skin.

The Sillage is conceived in the first hour in such a way that one is perceived well at a quarter arm's length and then oscillates for 1.5 hours in such a way that one is perceived only 3 cm above the skin, before it becomes very close.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to our Parfuma "Elbchen" for the bottling.

Duchaufour Composes in the Kitchen Once Again...
L'Artisan Parfumeur POIVRE PIQUANT reminds me very much of Lanvin OXYGENE. Both feature pepper and milk, which is a unique enough combination to make it easy to recall the few (n = 2) places in reality where one has encountered them together in perfume. Sure pepper goes well with creamed spinach soup (along with nutmeg...), but there are not very many fragrances which feature these notes in similar proportions.

POIVRE PIQUANT, contrary to its name, is really quite smooth, definitely smoother than OXYGENE, which has a slightly sour cast on my skin (especially in the drydown), but also a bit smoky as well. Although the varieties of pepper appear to be different in the two fragrances, it really is the pepper which dominates the composition in both cases. Both have good longevity, as is typical of pepper-heavy perfumes.

I recommend POIVRE PIQUANT to anyone who loves and wears OXYGENE, although you might want to save your big AP$$ for something else, since you probably need only one pepper-milk perfume, and OXYGENE may work just as well.

An unusual fragrance with a somewhat misleading name
A very warm, interesting, unusual fragrance with a somewhat misleading name.

There is pepper, of course. White pepper. But it's definitely not "piquant", and for most of the (very short) longevity of the scent, it seems to only play a supporting role. The pepper is most noticeable in the very early top notes (together with an elusive note that reminds me of thyme, but not quite) and at this stage it really is very good indeed.

It is however quickly taken over by a soft, silky, milk and honey accord. The honey is just right: light and not too sweet. The milk seems to be mixed with spices, and at some times I was reminded of Chai.

The spices and pepper (when they emerge, from time to time) play hide and seek with the milk and honey and I find this to be very pleasantly orchestrated.

If only Poivre Piquant had a bit more longevity and sillage! It's gone way too quickly to be fully appreciated; that's a shame because it will stop many (including myself) from getting a full bottle.

Not a fragrance to wear when you want to be noticed, but great to relax at home on a freezing winter day...
