Beeswax Leather
I still remember the time when I noticed for myself that I appreciate perfumes with leather notes. Since then, I've been browsing the souk of some perfumes consistently for leathery options. In the process, I have discovered that this area is very complex. There are light, dark, suede, suede, chamois leather and so on. The spectrum goes from deeply smoky to floral, from adherent like tar to a fleeting encounter. The expensive solutions are not always the best; the Arabic region has a lot to offer here. Today it is supposed to be about a rather light scent from France, which I find appealing because of its idea, but which is clearly too sweet for me.
Cuir from L.T. Piver takes time. Not because the fragrance is so complex, but because this volatility is so pronounced that my nose, which has recently endured a lot of resinous, earthy stuff, perceives the scent as light. It probably is. Basically it starts with a very sweet and lovely scent, which is permeated by honey. Gentle citric notes adhere to the honey. Personally, the whole thing reminds me of beeswax and - once again I come across leather shoes - the care of these very shoes. It smells of freshly cared for leather shoes rubbed with beeswax. With a light citrus note and more sweetness. Quite interesting, as I would like to mention in appreciation.
This idea is a nice one and whoever likes it, Cuir is recommended. Unfortunately it's not mine. The main reason is a) the leather is too light for me, I prefer striking leather and b) the sweetness Of course, Cuir is changing. The birch tree, which until now has lingered in the background, fights its way forward one by one. Which is important, otherwise it will soon need insulin. I would like to praise the fresh citrus notes. Standing alone it would have been splendid, I like to mention Royal Vintage by Micallef as a reference. Either way, it's also more wooden. At first beautiful but with the honey note it quickly degenerates from beeswax to furniture wax polish.
Probably the scent is supposed to be in a row with old leather scents, I read something about Bel Ami and claim that both resemble each other somewhere far away. But unfortunately the Cuir lacks everything that makes Bel Ami great and unforgettable even after all these years. So no, for me it failed because of my personal preferences.
Nevertheless a recommendation worth for all, which like sweet and with honey garnished leather. I can imagine him better on the female being like a feminine version of Bel Ami, Knize Ten etc. It seems to be available for a fair price.
