Strange but Likeable Aquatic Oriental
Lalique NILANG is definitely unique: an oriental floral perfume with an aquatic facet. This is odd enough that it could have been put out by a niche house, but instead it was Lalique. The fact that it's still around 16 years after its launch despite the complete absence of marketing--I for one have never seen any!--places NILANG in a special category of perfumes: the few, the proud, the survivors!
I like NILANG with its lotus, water lily and blueberry mingling with sandalwood, vanilla, and caramel, and I do not find it overly sweet--certainly not when compared to the sugar sprays available everywhere today. NILANG is rather strange but likeable and worth a sniff to anyone who appreciates oriental perfumes, and also those who do not, as this creation has a playfulness and levity which may appeal to them as well.
