Anonymous Attraction

Lancôme is a brand of great diversity. Looking at the timeline it has released so many different fragrances with different expressions: Ô de Lancôme (one of the freshest citric scents I know), Magie Nôire (the black magic of the eighties) and a long line of other triumphs such as Miracle, La Vie est Belle, Tresôr and Hypnôse - just to mention some of them. I then would have expected that a perfume named Attraction would have more to offer.
This is a very kind and polite perfume. It does not make a fuzz or shouts out loud. It stays close to the skin and keeps sending out floral notes. It stays like that for a few hours. When it fades, I often think whether I sprayed too little. Did I spray at all?! Well - Attraction will not make it to the history books, I suppose.

Seriously underrated

It does not really smell like any of the individual listed notes, because they are all blended together so much that it just becomes it's own new thing. Very sophisticated. Manages to strike a balance between something that you have smelled before and something very unique. This smells the way I imagined a classy lady would have smelled twenty years ago. Hypnotically beautiful. If you can get your hands on a small bottle, do it... this could be worn in any season for any occasion. A gorgeous classy woody floral. Like real gold or diamond jewelry that is dainty enough to be worn daily.

I'm not feeling this so-called attraction

Not bad, but not wonderful either.

My opinions on this fragrance keep changing. One minute I'll dislike it, the next minute I'll be somewhat intrigued by its scent.

When I first applied Attraction to my wrist I was really confused as to why the gardenia, neroli and ylang ylang blend smelt so spicy and almost bitter on my skin. I guess it's a matter of chemistry although my friend also had the same reaction.

Finally when the intial blast of the top notes pass, I am left with a rich and heavy blend of flowers, which in my opinion is pleasant but not very soft or feminine.

When Attraction begins to fade and transcend into the drydown the scent becomes sweet and 'vanillary'. This drydown makes me like this fragrance, yet for the first hour I really did not enjoy Attraction in the slightest.

To purchase this fragrance simply because I am 'attracted' to the drydown is silly and a waste of money, especially when this fragrance is extremely overpriced.

I'd say that overall Attraction would have many positive responses, yet for me it just didn't have the 'wow-factor'. The lasting strength was phenomenal, I guess that's one good point, however I'm not surprised that Lancome has decided to discontinue this fragrance.
