Hey you snotty-nosed kids! No wait, I meant of course you sniffing noses :D
How you guys doing? Are you evaporated or still sweating? Yes yes, the weather has become extremely hot again, but that's just the beginning, as the temperatures will still come with more than 32 to agonizing 36-37 degrees, not to mention hellish heat waves with 40 degrees and more. But apparently we now have a few days to breathe, because the weather has become more bearable again (apart from the thunderstorm).
*sigh*
I really don't like the summer when it gets this extreme. Yes yes, that's not only because I'm single and we singles would suffer even more in summer (and that despite the lightly dressed ladies with endless legs,... you know what I mean :DD), but also because of the heat, especially on rainy days, when it gets unbearably humid and you stick and stick to a leather couch more than if you were covered with super glue... Really, how can you like summer? Well, if I had a girlfriend (with endless legs :D), then maybe I would think a little bit different, but I would probably complain about the heat even then, I think... heeeeeeeiß!!!! DD
But good. What belongs perfumed in the summer? Hmm... since some people seem to listen to me here, I could mutate into a villain as a single and claim that the best time to wear heavy oud scents is in 35 degrees heat, especially with ylang-ylang, coriander and opulent tuberoses! Mu ha ha ha, suffer with me!!! :D
But you're lucky that despite all the complaining, I'm still reasonably nice, so I'm going to introduce you to a real summery scent, "Figues & Agrumes" by Lancôme, which sounds quite refreshing with scents like fig and citrus sorbet! So let's see what it's like!
The smell:
Oh, it's a great start. Light, fluffy, citrusy green, and therefore refreshing. Before I notice the figs, the citrus reminds me of the refreshing effect of Concentré d'Orange Verte by Hermès, only slightly softer and sweeter. And so I think that citrus doesn't just mean lemons here, but oranges, because the scent is very much like (bitter) oranges. If the citric one calms down a bit (but of course still smells good), then figs are better, together with flowery-sweet jasmine.
In the middle section, the fig becomes much more intense and then becomes the main scent, as the citrus notes take a back seat. Sweet jasmine is still there, although the sweetness of the fragrance is rather low, but in my opinion it is perfectly dosed to simply smell very pleasant.
In the base, however, not much changes, except that the fragrance's radiance becomes a little less, so that the scent gradually fades after a few hours and is just waiting to be sprayed on again, which is something you should do, since especially the top note smells really delicious and sparkling!
The Sillage and the durability:
Summer scent = low Sillage. This equation already applies here, but generally speaking, the sillage of this scent seems to be a bit higher than that of most summer scents, which is great, but overall it is still a weak scent, of course :D By the way, I found the shelf life of just under 5-6 hours quite good for a summer scent.
The bottle!
Ah, in my opinion, the bottles of these Lancôme fragrances are among the most beautiful bottles ever. First of all, it's a rectangular bottle with rounded edges. But the two gold-plated badges make the bottle look simply gorgeous. Of course, there's the great badge with the filigree-looking stampings, which create a beautiful drawing of a fig fruit including leaves. Since this golden badge is only visible on the front side, it looks greenish from the other side because of the green scent liquid, which is also very nice to look at. The next plaque has been attached to one of the side edges, where the name of the fragrance can be seen. The lid is also gold plated, so that everything harmonizes well and looks great.
Conclusion:
Wow, that's a nice smell! I like figs and here they come with citrus notes, which I love especially in summer! The interplay of these fruity scents is good, because the fragrance refreshes especially in the top note, but also stays loose on the skin for the rest of the fragrance, so that you can wear such a fragrance on really hot days, just to smell good even on those exhausting days.
So if you're melting from the heat, use scents like this.
If the heat is unbearable, but you still want to smell good, use scents like this one.
If you sweat endlessly and long for tingling refreshment, then undress naked... no wait, I wanted to write again of course: then use scents like this one... he hey hey, hey have mercy, it's too hot, and I can never think clearly when the sun is burning me or I only see endless legs everywhere... *sigh* :DD
Soo, the scent is usable now... come on, you probably guessed it already, in summer! D
I would then use it on all sorts of occasions, although you might have to re-spray it from time to time to go out, as it loses a lot of power after just a few hours (at least in terms of appearance, the durability is surprisingly good!)
Anyway, Figues & Agrumes is a recommendable scent that unfortunately seems to be a little overpriced but therefore smells very good. Those who are looking for a comparable scent but that is clearly cheaper, I recommend to have a look at "Fico di Amalfi" of Acqua di Parma, that is one of my personal favourites in the summer time.
