AAL vs. Irish Leather
Scent of the original Irish Leather from Memo Paris is in the house (was a gift) and the Lattafadupe has been ordered.
During the synchronized comparison on the skin, I noticed the following phenomena:
Head:
The first impression of both is a strong, herbaceous juniper of the fresh green cut variety. Anyone who has a garden will now know what is meant. IL is significantly sharper, as there is a slightly cold, pungent smokiness underneath, which I don't encounter in the AAL dupe. There you are expected to find a softer vetiver. Not soapy, more grassy. Pepper is also perceptible and fits harmoniously into the greenish scent of both. Definitely masculine, I get the impression that the manufacturers simply write unisex on the label for fear of gender debates. I can't detect raspberry in any of the variants, except perhaps a green, unripe raspberry, which then also smells rather mildly of ivy. Nope, no raspberry.
In the heart, AAL delights with a mixture of vetiver, cardamom and the fading juniper, even if it remains until the end. Close to the skin, both variants are quite accentuated-tart and form a green-soapy melange in the air, which is perceived much more intensely in IL.
It is precisely this mixture that defines the progression in the base, where musk rounds things off in both. Amber only subtly perceptible. With a lot of imagination.
And what about the leather? The leather is actually there from the beginning to the end - and not there!
Please how?
Yes, the fragrance is indeed reminiscent of fresh, brand-new, black leather. But not because of the leather, but because of the TANNABLES it contains. And it is precisely these that are reminiscent of leather, but also of the "greenness" that makes you think of Ireland in both cases.
H/S is relatively equally good for both, with the projection being very good, the sillage rather so-so and the durability top.
Both bottles are able to atomize, congratulations for that too. AAL has a cap that can cause acute eye cancer, the bottle is similarly stereotypical to the Memo version.
P/L: So dear friends of vaporized money: paying 180€ for such minimal differences is incomprehensible to me. Especially since I personally like the mild version (14€) AAL even better. You should replace the cap, but that's it. Lattafa has done a good, if not perfect job here, if you start from an idea of copying. As an independent fragrance phenomenon, top. Reminds me of Amouage BEACH HUT, even if the green was more ivy.
I hope I could be helpful!
