Complexity in a bottle!
According to the general consensus, this is supposed to be a clone of Dior Sauvage Elixir. I haven’t smelt Sauvage elixir, though, so I’ll review this one as its own thing.

From Lattafa’s website:
Top Notes: Black pepper, Pineapple, Tobacco
Middle Notes: Coffee, Patchouli, Iris
Base Notes: Amber, Vanilla, Dry woods, Benzoin & Labdanum.

I seriously don’t know how Lattafa supposedly cloned Sauvage Elixir with whole different and unrelated notes! Makes me think they lie a lot about their notes.
I digress...

Now, Lattafa Asad opens up with a warm spicy accord, some dose of sweetness and a great amount of lavender.

As it begins to develop, it gets sweeter and sweeter. I get a slight feel of cinnamon in it.

When it starts to dry down, that’s when I get a shadow of the Sauvage DNA—I feel there’s ambroxan in this fragrance. It’s pretty obvious.
At a point, it’s asif the sweetness is toned down, and you’re left with a matured, unapologetic dark patchouli and a low dose of Vetiver, mixed with a noticeable woody note. But then again, it becomes sweet.
There’s also something in this, that vaguely and briefly reminds me of the baccarat rouge dna(maybe it’s the ambergris/ambroxan?)

On the deep dry down, it starts to mellow down into this kind of smokey and creamy sweetness with a very noticeable Amber accord.
This fragrance transitions so well, from sweet-spicy to woody, back to sweet, with lavender anchoring the whole sequence.

Lattafa Asad has quickly moved to being one of the tops on my list. It would comfortably make my ‘Top 5 fragrances in my collection’ list, currently. The scent is massively addictive.

Longevity on Asad is superb. I got 8hrs on my first wearing. Subsequently, I started to get 10hrs+ with a great amount of projection/silage. No issues with longevity here.

PS- To me, fragrance reviews are ‘fantasies’, as one can’t actually describe a smell to be fully understandable to the public. You’ll need to actually smell the fragrance to get the complete picture and grasp the ‘reality’ of the composition.

Thanks for reading.

A fitting story and why Asad is not only ideally suited for this!
This review will have three parts:
1.) a true as well as fitting story
2.) Asad as the perfume itself
3.) A conclusion at the end

So let's start with part 1, a (really true) story:

This story will be about a certain enmity between me and my neighbor.
Well, actually, we were good neighbors most of the time without hate. We always helped each other, sometimes had barbecues together, visited each other, etc.

This neighbor is in a relationship with a female person. I get on well with her, but I have no interest in having anything going on with this person. Period. We also don't meet in secret or do anything together in our free time. I just find her very nice and pleasant as a neighbor.

For whatever reason, the neighbor probably thinks that I'm gossiping about her behind his back. And he seems to be jealous or I suspect that he thinks that I have something going on with his girlfriend. The good neighborhood (at least with him) has turned into an ice-cold and subtly hostile neighborhood.

Well, actually less happens now than you might imagine in such a neighborhood. So there's hardly any real war or stress, mainly people don't talk to each other. But there is a certain tension in the air! And it's the subtle and inconspicuous things that give this story a certain spice. Just like Asad !

But what does Asad have to do with a tilted neighborhood now? Quite simply, he doesn't like my presence at all. You can tell when he sees me or senses me, his pulse and anger/frustration levels rise. His face also turns red.

And this is where Asad comes into play! This perfume is an eye-catching, strong but also cool fragrance with a super H/S. Well overdosed on my clothes, I leave a huge and powerful cloud of fragrance in the stairwell and in the cellar. Two points where our paths cross quite often for various reasons.

And he can't stand the smell (probably because he doesn't like the scent or immediately thinks of me), I know that for a fact. This is my weapon to annoy him. Why do I do it? To wipe him out with it. He also doesn't like the fact that I'm still in contact with his girlfriend. Wonderful...

Part 2, the perfume:

Asad is the perfume that makes Sauvage Elixir obsolete. Asad comes really close to Sauvage Elixir, but has a certain twist of its own. The fragrance is just great, on the one hand because the fragrance notes go well together, on the other hand because the longevity and sillage are really good. I like the spicy-sweet-slightly fruity scent of Asad better than the scent of Sauvage Elixir, which has a note that I don't like at all.

The bottle is okay for the price. In short: A really good perfume with a really good H/S and a fierce price / performance. Properly overdosed, this fragrance can be very penetrating.

Part 3, the conclusion:

Honestly, since this happened between us, I always want to leave a lasting impression. Asad nicely overdosed on clothes does a really good job. This perfume makes a lasting impression. Both the cellar and the stairwell smell intensely of me for a long time. He doesn't like it, but I like it even more.

Apart from that: Asad is a really good fragrance for the cold season. Well dosed, but not overdosed, the fragrance is well received by other people. Especially if you haven't built up any interpersonal hatred beforehand. For the price, I consciously say that it is a good blind buy candidate.

And: Asad really makes the Sauvage Elixir obsolete.

P.S the story is really true, whether you believe me or not I don't care.

The warm brother
The Asad is a really great and pleasant fragrance. The parallels to the Sauvage Elixir are of course unmistakable, but it still goes in a different direction. Compared to the "original", I think the Asad is a little warmer, especially in the drydown, where the intense spices of the elixir are replaced by vanilla. As with almost all Arabic dupes, the first few seconds are unpleasant, but that's probably a fair trade when you consider the price. In my eyes, this is a version of the elixir that is even more suitable for the masses.

Asad by Lattafa
Fragrantica rating: 4.43/5
Sweet, warm spicy, amber, powdery.
Initially, it doesn't t smell pleasant but it gets better and better as it dries down.
I could not find any performance issues. Easily lasts for 6 to 8 hours.
Overall, not something groundbreaking, but at the same time, not that bad either. This is surely a great value for money.
One thing that I don't understand is why people go to the extreme ends, some will go to one side of the extreme end claiming it to be the best clone of xyz ever and some will go to the other extreme end claiming it to be the worst perfume ever created in the history of mankind. Why is it so difficult to be reasonable?

Would you like a spicy cola?
It should be clear to everyone by now that the cola from Mexico with the cane sugar tastes better than the normal one we have here. The comparison may seem far-fetched at first, but wait and see.

First of all: I'm a fan of good dupes and sometimes prefer to wear the slightly cheaper versions to save money.

I had my difficulties with giving the alleged Elixir Dupe (I don't know the original, but the Sauvage Eau de Parfum) a good rating.

Why?

Well, if you read through the fragrance notes like I did without knowing the original, you think of something spicy and woody, perhaps similar to Spice Bomb Extreme but without the cinnamon. In any case, I imagined something completely different and am somehow divided, I don't like the opening at all, it was a tobacco smell that I only know from empty cigarette packs, where the tobacco already starts to smell slightly sour, maybe this sour tobacco note is the tobacco and the pineapple? What confuses me about the scent is the fact that I somehow perceive it as very fresh, immediately after the top note disappears I have the feeling that a freshly tapped cola cup is held in front of my nose (in the room next door there was a strong shot of labdanum and a little dried wood) and the carbonic acid bubbles like a volcano, I personally perceive this cola syrup smell, (this sticky dark sugar broth). Patchoulli is there, but only subtly and more in the latter part of the base note

The sillage is strong, the durability is 4 hours in any case present certainly also more.
For me somehow a deodorant fragrance like Axe back then and definitely more like 11% in the circle diagram in the fresh area. I'm not convinced, even if I can't say that it's incredibly bad. Especially after 3 hours it reaches the best phase for me, as the fresh/aquatic becomes less, patchouli emerges, the smell of a real fresh vanilla pod makes the rounds. Of course, I can't imagine the fragrance on a woman at all, but I wouldn't say that it's a "seductive" masculine fragrance either, but just as you can imagine a slightly peppery cola as a scent that contains a hint of citrusy notes.

In my opinion, the fragrance was built around the labdanum and explains, at least for me, my sensory perception quite well.

What do we notice ? Whether the cola is made tastier in Europe or in Mexico is probably just a subjective perception and it is not uncommon to wish for the better feeling/taste. If the reviews of some of the testers here are anything to go by, I'm convinced that not everyone will like the slightly sweeter version of Sauvage Elixir and ultimately many will want to portray Asad as the perfect dupe that it may not be. I may be wrong, but perhaps I can help one or two people make a decision with my nose, which has not yet been influenced by the original

Like Sauvage Elixir, its too strong for its own good. Its a spicy, ambroxan monster, which might best suit a gold chain wearing gangster.
