The perfumer Sandrine Videault, who specialized in cultural and historical reconstruction of perfume, reported that the model for Manoumalia were the fragrance accompanied ceremonies of the Polynesian culture of the South Pacific island of Wallis (also Uvea): People wear leis made of fagraea, tiare and ylang-ylang, they scent their hair with sandalwood and use much of their traditional perfume "Tuitui". Remarkable is, that since the 50s of the 20th century, the People of Wallis use the perfume „Pompeia“ by L. T. Piver for their formula of Tuitui. Thus, Videault quoted indirectly an European perfume, as she took the ceremony scent of Wallis Island as inspiration for a new European perfume.
