Raw Reference Vetiver...
While not the easiest vetiver scent to wear regularly, Exercise 1 is a vetiver connoisseur's dream. It features vetiver in its raw, rooty, earthy form all in one. No fillers, no dilution, completely unrefined and wild. There is an almost sour grapefruit vibe mixing with the vetiver, complimenting it, while in no way obscuring the staring note. There really is nothing more to say about the notes, as the composition is pretty minimalistic (intentionally, as this was the starting exercise). Projection is minimal, but longevity is truly superb.
This vetiver lover finds Turtle Vetiver Exercise to be a tremendous release from Doyen and LesNez. It delivers the vetiver goods without any compromise, nothing more, nothing less. In short, it conveys exactly what Doyen was going for. I truly wish I could buy a bottle of this tremendous release, but alas, it has been long since discontinued. I do own the follow-up scent that builds on this release by design, Front, and I think I prefer its slight refinement and more wearable sublime dry-down... but either is full bottle worthy to vetiver lovers and both are among the top 3 vetiver scents on the market, IMO. This one gets an outstanding 4.5 stars out of 5.
