I Love Soap!
I retried this yesterday and it really impressed me with its soapiness. Linden by Library of Flowers has a very pure crisp top, with a little bit of a medicinal note in the middle, followed by a very gentle true narcissus and honey note- more like a honey wax than actual sweetened honey, without being cloying. Admittedly, the first time I tested this one, months ago, I found it very fleeting, this time I gave myself 4 solid sprays and really went for it, which is reasonable to do with this fragrance because it is very sheer and very clean and un-offensive. Plus I love soap!!! It's a weird fettish, I know but ever since I laid my hands on my first bar of Cashmere Bouquet soap and smelled those brisk Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Bubbles, I've been hooked! Somewhere around age seven, I discovered my mother's coveted collection of Roger & Gallet Carnation soap and the secret story of a love affair with fine soaps that goes back to my great Grandmother was revealed. It was soap that eventually lead me to an interest in Science and eventually to a fantastic job at a global leader in ...you guessed it industrial sanitation and soap products! My best friend...yep she loves soap too! That's why she's my best friend! We are the only two people who can stand to listen to ourselves talk about soap options for two hours while splitting a bottle of wine. Anyway, soap was a gateway drug for me into the world of fragrance. What do you do once you find that perfectly scented soft lathering soap? You want to surround your whole world with its essence, but so many soaps scents (intentionally) just linger for about 1-2 minutes post shower and slink back into the corner so the big boys and girls and add their hair products, EDTs/EDPs and freshly laundry scented suits over them. So then the war begins...I wanted layer upon layer of my favorite clean scented soap feeling, I wanted to harvest this and carry it with my after a 12 hour trans-Atlantic with recirculating air and cheap airline meals. I wanted to carry these clean fresh crisp soapy vibes and spread them around the world and at least wear a shield against fatigued hot sweaty greasy coworkers, who wreaked of pepperoni and job security fears. So into fragrances I delved. For years, I have chased the elusive good time girl that won't let me down day or night, hot or cold weather, that will make me smell different from the pack of coyotes but still clean and soapy. I have a wide array of neroli, soapy roses, citruses, fatty aldehydes. I have even dabbled in the CLEAN line, though I feel like this is just cheating on a test out of laziness, not inability. But the trend of fragrances I've recently been exploring has been taking me farther and farther away from clean and soapy and more into starts-out clean and soapy- ends with filthy dreams about showering in truck stops with werewolves(but, never mind about that for now). Anyway, to summarize, this is a very good unique scented linden soap fragrance with low sillage. Talk about perfect for the office! It also gets my respect for not smelling anything like Gendarme, Carriere, or anything from the Philosphy Pure Grace line and it also works for those of us who are, most unfortunately, sensitive to lavender and or Neroli.
