No vanilla--rejoice!
I really enjoy Patchouli Arawak because it's practically the only patch-dominant fragrance I know of that isn't sweet. if there is any vanilla in it, I don't notice it. This is a nice woody patch that goes in the Oriental amber direction as it dries down. This is something I would reserve for an evening out at a fancy restaurant. It reminds me of a forest at night, when all you see are shadows of trees and the ground and dirt.

Dark Abundance
What's all dark. Dark magic (no human needs!!) dark clouds, dark night, dark matter and energy (in space) and deep dark, earthy fullness.
With Ligne St Barth, "Patchouli Awarak" I have such a copy at home.
As many different "patchoulis" from different manufacturers as there are (have some of them), they are often different in fragrance. One is "cellary", the other almost "chocolaty", a third one is earthy resinous and so on...
This has some of everything. The fresh earth, dark purple roses, an ambry background that seems to glow. In pulsating, reddish-brown light.
Only the "top note", which will soon be "wrapped" in patchouli and rose, is very jasmine for my nose, which doesn't do much harm to the rest of the perfume, which has a very long shelf life.
The overall combination is very full without being overcharged. It is a warming, calming scent, dark but not "heavy". Like advanced dusk in October, after a warm sunny day.
In which the soil still releases the stored heat to the environment and lets everything smell wonderfully.
