The world of fragrances is a wonderful one. Even people who are not involved in the hobby of perfumes can be influenced by smells in a very positive way. But when you dive into the world of perfume, it quickly becomes intense, overflowing and emotional.
Especially when the creative mind behind a fragrance has a certain source of inspiration as to how the finished product should smell. Whether it should be a certain situation, a place (as Roja Dove likes to interpret it) or a person/animal. The latter is a bit strange, but you can see from a zoologist that animals and their habitat can be pleasant and portable.
Louis Vuitton and Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud have now succeeded in creating a fragrance that will make the hearts of all friends of objectophilia beat faster. Even if it sounds a bit macabre in reference to this "psychological peculiarity" (please google the term !), the perfume smells as if you had a certain romanticism with a Louis Vuitton handbag. Because when I go to the leather goods department of the luxury shop of the same name on a warm summer day, there will be no other smell in the air than having sprayed on this Au Hasard.
That I dare to try leather scents again after my rather bad experience with Tuscan Leather and Tuscan Leather Intense is already a highlight for me. I'm even more pleased that I found an unusual representative in Mon Seul Desir and a possible signature scent in Ombre Nomade (even if with less leather). Ombre Nomade convinced me so much that I had to get the bottle and the Au Hasard sample was there.
Au Hasard was one of the fragrances that interested me most as a test candidate, as it is probably still one of the better ones here in the community and with the information of the few notes it sounded a bit more surprising than many others of the brand. I already noticed how much leeway there is when it comes to giving just a few notes, when I used my Attaquer le Soleil, which only gave cistus to set off a real firework display. Looking back, the notes given are somewhat misleading, as they don't even come close to describing the direction in which the fragrance tends to go.
I'm out in the car. It's 30 degrees Celsius, beautiful sunshine and we're on the Cote d'Azur. I have earned a few days holiday, even though there are still travel warnings and restrictions due to Corona. But why this place ? Simply because I have never been here before and many people have raved about it. I had nothing better to do anyway and before I sit at home bored, I better pack my car and go away with my wife for a few days. If I interpret the first impressions correctly, she likes it quite well. As long as the sun shines and the sky is blue, there are no complaints. Since I am not in the situation to own a convertible myself, the normal station wagon has to be enough. Windows rolled down and the great air of the sea and citrus plantations. Wonderful here
We found a small bay where we wanted to stop and put our legs in the water. We like it so much that we stay a little longer and get our bathing things out of the car. When the trunk opens its flap electrically, an intensive, soft and very leathery smell comes out. This can only be the leather bag from Louis Vuitton, which my wife treated herself to during our stopover in Paris. A wonderful scent that envelops me comfortably and warmly. I almost have to thank her for buying the bag, because the smell is already a refinement of the room air.

The fragrance is a bit difficult to describe in its notes, especially at the beginning, because I cannot argue with the notes given. It is questionable whether this leather aroma, which aromatizes the fragrance intensely at the beginning, is created by a chord of the notes shown or whether there are actually nuances of leather. As strongly leathery as the beginning is, almost only leather can be in it. The whole thing is accompanied by a freshness of tangerine, which comes out a bit more after two hours. Also the soft sandalwood can be heard, because it provides this softness and cuddly inlays. If you sniff the liquid a little closer with your nose, you will also hear the cardamom, which is not a disturbing part of the composition. It is a nice scent, because this soft leather is very pleasant for my nose and almost makes me hope that with this perfume I have finally found what I understand by a great leather scent. After some time, the creation changes a bit, so that more wood, more citric and slightly green nuances can be heard.
This Au Hasard from Louis Vuitton is also a great choice for durability and sillage. The delicate aromas only spread within a radius of one meter, but that's what makes this fragrance attractive to me. Not a loud banger, but rather a reserved one, which only wants to show its presence within the closest radius. It has a shelf life of at least eight hours and thus fits perfectly into the category of fragrances that people like to wear in their everyday work life.
In general with this fragrance I imagine a man wearing chic suit trousers and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. That would fit very well to this fragrance, even if I am not a friend of assigning fragrances to a certain style of clothing.
For me this creation is a highlight and from now on my reference of a soft leather scent, as I wish it to be.
