Rich rose and black currant
I'm an Australian, and for many years, I assumed MOR only made soaps, candles and lotions. I never thought to try their fragrances until only recently. Since then, I have vowed never to dismiss the brand again. My favourite from this line so far is Cassis Noir.
At the beginning of this year, I finally used up my full bottle of Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears. When I first bought it as a teen, it was my favourite night time fragrance. I absolutely loved the dark berries and intense juiciness. Unfortunately I grew out of it rather quickly and never found a more mature replacement, until now.
Cassis Noir, (although smelling nothing like blueberries and plum candy), has a beautiful, rich and enticing black currant accord with a smooth vanilla drydown. To my nose, it smells like a grown-up version of Midnight Fantasy. It's slightly more sophisticated and sensual too.
This fragrance comes in a small, purse-sized rollerball, and is the perfect accessory for a night out. Not to mention, it also comes in a matching lip balm, lotion and soapette. The layering options are endless.
The rose in Cassis Noir is romantic and rich, like a red rose. Although this fragrance is primarily a fruity floral, the rose tames the berries, making it quite wearable and elegant. This smells nothing like a fruity Escada release.
Other than wearing Cassis Noir for night-time outings, I also find it subtle enough to be worn during Winter. I am very impressed with this fragrance. I only hope that MOR never discontinues it.
