Scentrack: Serge Gainsbourg - La Javanaise

Mr. Laporte recreated his legendary L'Artisan fragrance for MPeG. Perfected EdN with softer transitions and devoid of chemical atmosphere. The basic idea is the same: slightly sweet resins, coffee and soft incense on the powerful base of vetiver and patchouli.
The scent of classic masculine beauty, which brings a whiff of Orient in our gray lives. A great underrated scent from the underrated house.

Eau des Îles
This fragrance opens with the unmistakable aroma of coffee. Vetiver and tarragon intensify the note, whereas touches of ylang-ylang brighten the composition. As the notes bloom on my skin incense emerges, but it is dry and bitter like cold tobacco smoke. I’d describe this scent as masculine, intense, dry, smoky and earthy. I feel like I am visiting a spice shop in an Arabian city windswept by desert wind. The fragrance calms down considerably in its mid-development when the coffee, vetiver and spice note gradually give way to smoky herbs and patchouli. A dash of cocoa adds a sweet touch to the final stages of the development. The dry down is a very pleasant patchouli note framed by light spices. This is a classic Maitre Gantier offering, because it has got all the trappings of that house. The fragrance is dry enough for a summer day and warm enough for a winter day.
