Yesterday for gentlemen - now for nostalgics
Marbert is such a German brand, which is located with me rather so as cheap and relatively piefig. This also somehow convey the flacons, where I think that one or the other was allowed to make his first early fragrance experiences with Marbert.
Since Gentleman falls not only visually a little out of line, even if he clarifies from the name that it could go here relatively down to earth to the matter.
As a mini and thus as a test candidate I have unfortunately only the after shave, but olfactorisch it already makes a lot. So this gentleman from the deepest 80s reveals itself contemporary as a versatile kaleidoscope with wonderful approaches from floral to spicy-citrus notes in the opening. In addition to bergamot, especially galbanum heart as well as some mugwort and a touch of tarragon come into play here.
In the further course are later traces of rose, jasmine and a little patchouli with cedar. This already seems very mature and is probably in fact rather to appeal to the advanced vintages and less the Jungspunde.
Because in the base then come out the true masculine notes like musk, civet and a little bit of leather to give the gentleman his slightly animalic touch. With it also a little oak moss and especially neat incense.
I think nowadays only nostalgic people can do something with it, less the gentlemen who would call themselves a gentleman - for that the dose seems a little too much out of time. But so were just the fragrances well over 30 years ago: something sultry, animalic and not necessarily discreet, but quite charming, valuable and craftsmanship to take off your hat!
For me, one of the really most interesting Marberts.
