And yet another "vintage" strikes!
I had just been looking for a certain "spice fragrance" when this "great Olle" Marbert fell into my hands! Untested, uncommented, ... strange?? Even I have something like that! I knew it was in my stock, but it was "only" listed as a bottling... Now it's ready to be tested!
Well, what can I say!!! "Volle Lotte an ancient vintage"! The best kind, exceptional durability and radiance for an "EDC". Everything is tightly interwoven in a texture that, if it were fabric, could be a blend of silk and linen!
There are herbaceous-green citrus fruits here, which, surrounded by a tart, spicy floral bouquet, end in a mossy, balsamic cloud of spicy wood. And I can detect a hint of honey throughout...
With subtle "animalic" undertones accompanied by earthy "ink"! Hardly a comparison to most of today's "Marberts", although some of them are really good too! They lack all the "old charm" that only really comes to the fore through a juxtaposition of "new" and "old". The "good" becomes "great class". And a "fragrance commentary" becomes a reminder for other "noses" who appreciate and love something like this :-))

A Versatile Cosmopolitan Gentleman
Raymond Chaillan is a Frenchman who worked in the industry for more than 6 decades.
He was even the President of the Société Française des Parfumeurs from 1995 to 1997, and still participates as a member of the Comité Directeur.
That being said, the guy has created some really famous perfumes like Ho Hang or YSL Pour Homme in the 70s, Monsieur Carven in the 80s, and Boucheron in the 90s.
What about this one, Marbert Man?
First of all, i have the Eau de Cologne (splash) version, and i own one bottle of 120ml, one of 50ml, five bottles of 30ml.
I can't get enough of this orange juice.
With the opening i get an intense combination of artemisia (mugwort), bergamot, lavender, the basil and the lemon i see listed here in Parfumo are not so strong.
About an hour and a half, what happens next is amazing, as the middle notes come to life, i feel a warm feeling all over me, especially inside my mind & heart.
Took me a lot of time to figure out why i feell like this.
Honey.
In general, i never quite liked honey in perfumes, but here is so well blended, so well made, that i just can't resist.
Imagine all those amazing honey commercials, where you see this orange velvet liquid shining like it is the most precious thing in the world, immediately you want to have it, taste it.
Marbert Man's honey has the same impact for me, mentally, emotionally.
As the dry down comes slowly, but surely, i get the feeling of the era that Chaillan created this, leather, patchouli, moss, musk, an unmistakeable combo of the masculine-macho 70s.
Projection is amazing for a cologne and the longevity more than excellent, in my skin stays more than 14 hours.
Marbert Man comes from 1977 and it shows that, but is (and forever will be) and elegant gentleman who can travel around the world and time, without being too flashy or too provocative.
Or macho.
The opposite.
A versatile, thoughtful, French born German, who may be tall, muscular, and scary, but is educated, soft spoken, and kind as well.
And all of these stories he is about to tell you through the years he lived, the places he had been, the knowledge..
Well..
Do not miss the chance to meet him.
Do not be afraid of his size or strength.
He is Unique.
