Are girlfriends parasites?
Holerö!

Wait no, don't worry, that wasn't a strange-sounding yodel attempt, but a greeting from old video games, which were translated into German for Nintendo consoles in the 90s and I recently read another "greeting" in such a video game :D So I don't have to run away if you think I'm going to yodel now... I think I'd run away very quickly myself :D
And no, I don't talk about video games either, so stay here!

Today I come back to a newer fragrance, which appeared this year (2018) and is from Micallef. Mon Parfum Pearl. Hmm... if something means "my pearl", then it must be something special,... something you love, appreciate, find beautiful and great. Something very precious and almost unique. Is that why some guys call their girlfriends "my pearl"? Hmm... maybe.

Pearls (presumably) develop as a result of parasites (and not as often suspected by the penetration of grains of sand into the mussel), which drill into the mussel skin and form a kind of cyst there, from which calcium carbonate is finally excreted and this forms layer by layer over a longer period into a pearl. More correct would be to say "My girlfriend is the product of a parasite", which admittedly sounds much less romantic, wouldn't it? D

Soo,... but I come to the smell, I've talked enough again here!

The fragrance:
The fragrance starts with roses and currants, which smell quite strong when sprayed on. Then there is also an acidic citric scent, mandarins. Actually, tangerines do, but for me it smells like mandarins, and I don't know anyway whether tangerines and mandarins really differ olfactorically. The fragrance looks increasingly rosier, but it's no wonder, since it says here that Grasse centrifuge foils are included. And if you have no idea what that is like me, let alone how they smell, then you look it up and find out that Zentifolien are nothing more than a kind of roses that are just called differently to make life harder for your beloved DonJuanDeCat here! :D For those who are more interested: More specifically, they are Provence roses. And the kind that is cultivated in Grasse is said to be one of the most precious roses.
So, it smells like roses also later, and quite intensively. The citric scents soon fade away, you can smell a light powdery note, probably vanilla, and the scent looks a little warmer.
Later, the fragrance becomes more creamy and I find it more pleasant. The roses are a bit weaker now (but still very good to smell), but the scent smells of the other scents instead of only roses in the scent cloud.
In the later base, some heavier floral notes are added, making the fragrance appear more mature. Otherwise you can still smell the roses and the powdery vanilla.

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage is at the beginning quite strong and almost room-filling. Then the intensity goes down a bit, but remains at a generally good level for a while and can therefore be smelled well before it weakens further over time. I found the shelf life to be quite good with over eight hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is round and made of glass, which has been lacquered pearl white to match the name and should also feel like a shell (hence the grooves in the glass). On the front you can see a golden label, around which real small beads were inserted by hand. The lid is gold-plated and square, with rounded edges. A beautiful bottle!

Soo, I think this fragrance is also great. It might seem a little too rosy to some, though. This means that anyone who likes rose fragrances could like it very much and that it is definitely worth a look. All others should rather look around for other scents, whereby I would recommend nevertheless times to a test. Sometimes scents work completely different than you might expect from the scents!

Hmm... despite the powdery floral scents (and the more luxuriant floral notes towards the end) the fragrance looks rather light, so I would classify it more in spring and summer. The purpose of this fragrance is also quite general, so that it is suitable for many occasions and everyone can decide for themselves what they want to use it for. Some might find it suitable as a day scent while others find it great as a night scent, as I said, anything is possible here and I think it also goes down well because it comes across as particularly feminine with its intense yet delicate rose scent.

I think it's great that despite all the roses there are more scents flashing that round off the whole fragrance and make it more complex, so it doesn't "just" smell like roses. Yeah, like I said, quite a test scent.

Ah and remember what I wrote in the introduction, the next time someone calls you his pearl, he he

A scented pearl
Roses can be difficult, the Little Prince already knew that. These roses here are from Grasse, not proud diva-like roses. Rosa centifolia, the hundred-petalled rose, also known as Provence Rose or Rose de Peintre, can often be found in paintings by Dutch and Flemish painters - wonderful still lifes with filled roses.

The white flacon shimmers like mother-of-pearl and lies comfortably in the hand - a true hand-smoother - like a shell that has been found. Only the scent has nothing to do with the sea.

The fragrance starts flowery, the rose is immediately there. Something fruity is also in the process of smelling my blackberry, although currants are indicated in the fragrance pyramid. Then I mean to smell white flowers and - the rose. The scent becomes lighter. Like in the morning, when the night gives way to the day and it suddenly becomes bright, without the sun being visible. I know that impression only from Guerlains. It gets a little powdery sometime, but not dusty, not too much powder.

Nothing here is intrusive or exaggerated. All fragrances are finely interwoven. The shelf life is good, the Sillage is in the middle range. You can feel from the beginning that this is a noble rose - a pearl. A precious bouquet of flowers captured in a bottle decorated with small pearls. A feminine, elegant fragrance, well wearable even at very high temperatures.
