The nasal core
The pomegranate is split to the core - dry, almost astringent. The taste and effect of the bite on that core is thus transferred directly from the mouth to the nose in a subtle way - an unusually exciting opening.
The splitting of the pomegranate is celebrated extensively on the eaglewood - the combination of this fruit with really high-quality oud is new to me, and also innovative. Hence the name of the perfume "Vermilion Wood" (Red & Forest):
smouldering and crackling (but not smoky)
bulky and attractive at the same time
warm and dry (but not dusty)
Later comes the green-black plum, slightly sweetish, even a touch creamy, but never sticky or sugary.
A red in wood, vehement (not radical), the vermilion tone splashing in all directions! High quality and natural, for me also a very intimate fragrance. Haute couture in ingredients from Mona di Orio - a performance for its own independent stage.
The ticket for this stage is unfortunately painful (however, the price will change downwards after the relaunch of the label, as a lacquered wooden box, which was apparently very costly to produce, will probably be dispensed with in future --- hopefully!)
PS: next to "Mellifera" and "Four Thieves" the most beautiful of the Alinea series.
