Another Déja-Vue Exciter
This is one of those that causes my déja-vue reflex to spin out of hand. But that's one of the best of all signs for a perfume. It's almost tautological to say so, as the °frenzy° of deja-vue ^is^ the wonderful olfactory sensation, not merely a ^is a token^ of it. There are quite a few perfumes that do this; but not ^all^ the perfumes I deem excellent 'fumes do so. It is a ^sufficient^ condition of a 'fume being excellent, but not a ^necessary^ one - to use strict logic. And when I say ~déja-vue~ I do mean a kind of ^abstract^ déja vue, in which none (or none but one or two) of the threads actually terminate on any specific recollection, either real or fabulous.

I have heard it said that this is not an orangey fragrance. I would ^somewhat^ disagree with that. There is an accord in it that I would call 'evocative' of orange: it is probably a synergy of the oudy note & the bergamot, at least primarily. It is a ^fairly^ complex fragrance, looking at the notes list, and beautifully composed - the notes fitting together like the blocks of which the walls of temple at Karnak are built. And it is ethereal, in that it seems to shimmer around one; and yet, a tad skanky - the skankiness & the ethereality complementing rather than conflicting - a sign of the well-use of the oud note.

In the whole, I am ^extremely^ pleased with this what was in fact a °blind purchase° - one of those bull's-eye or triple-twenty scores (or the preferred analogy).
