Montale / Bakhoor
A unique, twisted and niche WORK.
For me, it is less incense (I rather don't associate it with classic incense, but rather with some smoke ... something burnt, but it is difficult for me to find any associations).
Once upon a time, someone ... I think when describing Dark Aoud (Montale) wrote about railway sleepers, lubricants, a workshop - and for me this is the smell.
Wooden (of various types of wood) railway sleepers, a wooden workshop smelling of grease, wooden blocks under the wheels and chassis, a slightly smoky and veeery dry smell (very well describing the word 'dry' as Zanzibar37 wrote).
To sum up - if you like such fragrances, including Dark Aoud (Montale), Kabul (Montale), Black Tourmaline (Olivier Durbano) - it's worth trying, and whether to have ... it's a personal matter, because it's not a fancy guy.
If I had to compare it to something that is closest in smell, in my opinion: Dark Aoud and Kabul.
A niche with a capital N.

Raw and wild!
Montale describes one of its new 2018 fragrance creations as raw and wild creation.

And that brings it, unfortunately especially at the beginning, from my point of view completely to the point.

Because I don't even know how to describe this top note. While I remained somewhat helpless, my daughters commented something in the direction of, boah, how stink you then or äähhhhh, that is completely disgusting. Well, I'm still looking for the right words, too, because the prelude is so sharp (in the literal sense) that it takes your breath away. Domestos? It bears some resemblance. Vinegar cleaner? No, much more aggressive, kind of sucks. Thought back to chemistry class 30 years ago... nitric acid??? Anyway, the scent was on the skin, so it couldn't be changed anyway. Thought of it ticked off. Even after 15-20 minutes still this stabbing, unpleasant.

And then, after about an hour, the surprise. The fragrance becomes almost mild compared to the opening. The heart note shows resins and woods, I would even go so far as to suspect oriental oils - and not even as rough as I would have expected after the beginning.

And when the whole story arrives at the base note after another hour, then we have here a strongly oriental, spicy, smoky and woody representative of his genus. But in an almost fine way that surprised me in an incredibly positive way.

Sillage: Thank God, after half an hour it already clearly decreases, whereas the shelf life is relatively good. The bottle okay, matching the fragrance, I think.

Conclusion: I advise against blind buying. Maybe gibt´s people who find the prelude somehow attractive, I don't belong to it. I've never tested a perfume that seems so ambivalent. While I'm completely convinced of the base note, the top note almost knocked me away. And that's exactly why Bakhoor won't find its way into my collection.
0 points for the top note, 6 for the heart note and 9 for the base note. According to Adam Riese and Eva Klein, this is the 5th time. It's a pity actually, without this jump-off at the beginning there could have been something really good out of it. But as I said, tastes are different - give it a try - I'm looking forward to further comments...
