BR540 Eau Sensuelle

BR540 has been a great success since its release and since then my signature fragrance.
But do you know this? This restless search for "What could top this?" for a better scent, but one that goes in a similar direction?
So I came across Sensual Instinct among others and was allowed to test the fragrance in a chic Hamburg perfumery.

After the first spray I was deeply disappointed; a juicy rose soaked in syrup blasted at me and I found the start to be fruity and liqueurish. THAT's supposed to smell like BR540?! Hmm... Never!
But as you know it from Montale, it takes a long time until the actual scent develops :-)

So I took the opportunity to test other Niche fragrances and stay in the perfumery.
Half an hour later, a very familiar scent blew towards me, wait a minute, I know YOU, don't I?!
Sniffed again on the wrist, yes, you can smell immediately which fragrance the perfumer was inspired by ;-)

The name says it all: Sensual Instinct is sensual, beguiling, unisex, but I find it very feminine The rose is present throughout the fragrance, with the coffee and praline notes, Sensual Instinct goes more in the gourmand direction. Somehow the scent reminds me of Bailey's, sugary-sweet, liqueur-like, I think I also read somewhere that Sensual Instinct contains a whisky note among other things, but this is not listed.
The juicy oakmoss note in the base is to kneel down!

Yes, the scent has this amber BR540 DNA, there's no denying it, yet it's "different".

Of course I took Sensual Instinct with me immediately, it should not be missing in my collection!
The durability is unbeatable, typical for a Montale by the high concentration of fragrance, even after 10 hours I can perceive it very well.

To be honest, I have received more compliments and positive feedback from my environment since I started wearing Sensual Instinct than with BR540.

If you like BR540, you should definitely test Sensual Instinct. Better durability, bomb silage, warmer, denser, deeper and more gourmand; not quite so medical (that's mainly what many people dislike about BR540, I like it).

I'm very happy to have found Sensual Instinct. For me the perfect fragrance for the cooler seasons, although I have already worn it in summer :-)

Noir de Noir de Montale

I must confess, up to now I have not really been a big fan of Montale. I've often come across a lot of loudness in the fragrances I don't like. There is one flacon design that I don't like that much. And there were a total of four scents tested so far, none of which I really liked. Now the opportunity arose to test Sensual Instinct and I thought to myself: Come give them another chance. After all, the ingredients list contains scents that I all appreciate.

What can I say - I am extremely positively surprised and even a little enthusiastic. I spray it on and there it sounds. First briefly diffuse and then very clearly: Tom Ford's "Noir de Noir". I consider this classic from the Private Blend series to be a wonderful, desirable fragrance, which is also in my collection. Sadly, sadly, sadly, sadly, on my skin, it is usually that decisive bit too flowery-sweet and thus a touch too feminine for me, which is why the occasions when I wear it are really rare.

But the Montale, although it does a lot of things similar to the Tom Ford, again seems a touch less flowery-sweet. There is the rose, which, although present in its beauty, is not too much in the foreground. Together with the resinous-sweet flowing amber note, the fragrance gets something incredibly smooth, but not too sweet.

And so I think Sensual Instinct is the more usable version of Noir de Noir for men. Whoever likes the latter should give Sensual Instinct a chance. And you lovely ladies should do so anyway. All because of the price discrepancy between the two fragrances.

Apart from that I consider Sensual Instinct a beautiful, successful scent for going out or for primarily evening leisure or festive occasions. Since it naturally lacks lightness, it is not necessarily a candidate for the summer, especially during the day. Sillage and durability are remarkable. This in turn speaks for him as a night out and less as an office fragrance. But yes, this is a Montale that gets a big like from me

My pleasant, friendly companion

What a great mixture. Coffee - but if there is little, it is rather the Viennese melange with a freshly blossomed tea rose that softly spreads its aromas. All in all a very close to the body, gentle but incredibly pleasant contemporary. A friendly companion for many days and nights. But let's take a closer look at it, light roasted aromas with a slightly warm, slightly powdery sensual component. Woody but in a light way. The whole fragrance dress develops very fine, it is not a cracker but a very balanced one on the extremely pleasant Duftaura. Shelf life I describe with 6-8 hours, he does not only fit to ladies, is also sometimes what for a man the unusual fragrance works openly opposite stands. Bottle as usual in a nice packaging with good colour recognition. I like it very much because it always fits, after about 1 hour it smells incredibly good and very attractive on the skin. The individual ingredients mix in my opinion in a very successful way what is not flowery or fruity-sweet to classify, he just smells good, really good is. It is very different from the current cliché because it is discreet, light gourmand and I like to repeat myself here - it is incredibly tasty, very pleasing. Was for me a top purchase decision, so give absolutely a chance !

Warm-floral-spicy elegant fragrance for the evening

SI starts with a dark red warm rose on me, it gets a bit liqueur-like on me shortly after. But it becomes even more interesting: Because then follows a medium dark tobacco with a light rosy fruity aroma. I'm surprised, but I like it. In between, there is still a slight soapy note. From here, Sensual Instinct evolves into a coffee and cedar spiced amber scent with its signature sweetness. For a while, I can smell both tobacco and amber alternating a bit until the spiced and sweet amber presents itself as the base of the scent.

The longevity is good at 6 - 7 hours by my estimation. The sillage I estimate as medium. In the radiance, the rose asserts itself longer than on the skin. This is because, as I note, that it lasts longer on the T-shirt, which also got something off. In general: when I open my jacket after an hour-long walk, a nice warm rose scent wafts towards me, while what is described further above tends to take place directly over the skin.

Conclusion: I find "Sensual Instinct" is a warm but also elegant fragrance for the evening.

Waiting for coffee...

One time in advance, who is looking for the coffee as I should but rather go to Starbucks and Co. because it does not come out with me at all.

What I get for it is a BR540 light. Certainly a great alternative for those of us at the BR540 super develops and do not want to spend so much. In my case, he unfortunately does not take a nice development.... there's a lot of cedar and moss here. The sweetness I look in vain and the rose has also said goodbye within the first hour.

The durability is really above average and the sillage bombastic. A blind purchase candidate is Sensual Instinct in no case and should be tested first (also on the skin).
