Dirtier, Wilder, and Naughtier than Sauvage
The Wild Man is my avid thought, la pensée Sauvage. The Wild Man by Morris is a newbie, appeared at the beginning of February 2018, and I was so lucky to stumble into it yesterday evening. Classified as an oriental-fougère composition, it is suitable for cooler and coldest days for my taste.
Don't be fooled by its initial accord, which strongly reminds right of the bat Dior Sauvage. I had the very same impression when I tested it on a paper strip first and on my skin later, and miserably overlooked it. But it was after a while, roughly fifteen minutes after I left the shop, that its heart started beating, and it turned downright—dirty, wild, and naughty revealing its dark side and awakening the senses. Please, don't make the same mistake I did!

The dream begins with zesty notes of bitter grapefruit, sweet mandarin orange, and brilliant bergamot. The pineapple embraces that blend of citrus fruit and smells like Creed Aventus, yet the opening is neither too citrus not too sweet thanks to the presence of the tart rhubarb, which I love, and it is so rare to find in colognes. There is just a tinge of fruity note from the watery melon, which does make it neither aquatic nor calone-like at all, and a greenish accord from some aromatic herbs. That great mix of notes is very close to Dior Sauvage and might mislead you, though you should not be scared about it and pursue the dream.

When the heart starts pulsing, floral notes of masculine jasmine, dark geranium, white magnolia, and deep blue lavender surround you and soothe your soul. The floral accord is well-balanced by the spiciness of the black pepper, and this middle phase sometimes reminds me of Terre d'Hermés, the same vibe from the pepper-geranium-vetiver-patchouli concoction.

The Wild Man is not linear, and the dry down is resinous, musky, earthy, smoky, and leathery. All of its base notes are detectable, the earthiness of modern patchouli, the softness of musk, the sweetness of tonka, the smokiness of vetiver and incense, the darkness of amber, and the leatheriness of cistus labdanum.

Both projection and longevity are moderate; the scent stays close to your aura and lasts about 4-5 hours. It is perfect for the office, forgoing outside with friends, and for informal dining. It recommended for people between 25 and 50.
