Like a painting by Diego Velázquez
One or two parfumistas will certainly be cheering, ha! Flori has come up with something. Others might be surprised, Flori and wood???
But all I can say is that I can very well understand that this grandiose, overwhelming, supernatural fragrance - yes, yes, I'll calm down again - has been rediscovered in Spain by NELIA Cosmeticos and is being re-released and sold, whereby I appreciate the quality I don't know anything about this new edition.
I own the Myrurgia versions from the 60s and here the “Loción”, which has a concentration of about an EdC, the “Colonia”, which has about EdT strength, the “Perfume de Tocador”, which is an EdP and the “ Extracto”, the pure perfume.
And the latter is worth seeing, because the narrow bottle of the perfume with a ground glass stopper is in a wooden container, very tightly sealed, which not only maintains the concentration, but also protects the scent from the influence of light.
The EdT is in a bulbous, round bottle with a gold-colored cap, the EdC in a tall, rounded bottle with a black cap. All have a curry-colored label with an oriental twist.
I was able to purchase the later version of the EdP - the fragrance is offered again in a bottle like this today - a kind of stepped bottle with rounded steps and a blue and white label.
However, ALL versions have one thing in common: all bottles contain a small piece of wood.
I have never experienced the beautiful way the woods are processed here in any fragrance that I have tested so far. Maderas de Oriente - in English Oriental Woods - is like a painting by Velázquez: dark, warm, woody, oriental, sensual! Wood and amber are used at the beginning and wrap me in a dry, warm and sensual wood cloud.
It takes some time for the scent to develop further, as the top note lasts about an hour for me. Only then does the scent become spicy and slightly sweet, just enough to perceive it as gourmand and oriental. The scent now matches the color of the liquid in the bottle 100%, or the bottles, which deserve very special attention. Not only imagination was used here but also a lot of attention to detail. I'm sure there's a lot more to this scent than just amber and woods. I could imagine that jasmine or tuberose are also included to give the fragrance the softness and honey the sweetness, vanilla the depth and resins and spices such as. B. Clove and nutmeg, a certain spice and intensity.
Maderas de Oriente simply gives me a feeling of security, familiarity and sensuality, a feeling of having arrived.
