You have to look at the mind. What good is a beautiful body if it does not contain a beautiful soul
"Hey! Hey! Hey, hey, hey!
Macho, macho man
I've got to be, a macho man
Macho, macho man
I've got to be a macho!"
"Why are you singing about the Village People?"
"I can't help it, ever since I put that perfume oil on my wrists. It's called Macho Man."
"Do you at least smell like a macho man now? Or a man?"
"Depends. Is raspberry leather macho or manly?"
"Well, it's rather unimaginative and often smelled."
"Come on, take a whiff of me. Saffron plus raspberry, great, right? It's original tsp."
"As much as I hate to disappoint you, you smell of unripe raspberry and the saffron seems very weak, has no power at all. It seems very harmless. It's more like macho teen or macho man. Or a postcard from Tuscany that I found on a leather bag. With raspberry juice all over it
"Now don't be like that! Everything will be more harmonious. And saffron will come through. It's late, but still. The leather smells wonderful, really Tuscan, doesn't it?"
"Have you ever been to Tuscany?"
"Actually, I'm more of a Spanish island kind of guy."
"Not surprisingly. I also smell leather but without its own character. It just smells like raspberry. And later on it smells like saffron. It's stronger and stronger but without any whistle, without spirit. Do you really like that? Even the leather smells terribly average and has no depth, no unfinished features. You like that?"
"A fiver for 6ml from the Arab grocery store. Is more enough?"
"No, but neither is much less. I don't want to offend you but do you know how many imitations there are now?"
"Uh no?"
"Me neither, because I can't count that far. Here comes the next one. Her perfume smells solid to good but it's just not original and it's close to the original in the smallest way. I miss the smoke alone."
"But it says something about incense." "Lemonade sometimes has a high fruit content and then it's 5%. The incense may be there, because the saffron gets a smoky attitude but I can't make out more than a tiny glow of the small resin stones."
"But at an unbeatable price."
"The best-known twin costs the same projected amount, just not oil." "So you're telling me I'd better get another clone and stop singing, too?"
"Would be a dream. Thanks."
This dialogue is intended to illustrate the dilemma with scents of this kind. Tuscan Leather didn't just happen to create all these creations. TL is very good, simple but effective and introduced something new at that time; I myself love to wear it a lot.
The quality of many clones, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired, because often that certain something is missing. So the imitators usually have the problem that the scent is satisfying and reasonably well copied but absolutely without a soul of its own. This can be annoying, I could get angry about it sometimes, because what is a fragrance without its own statement worth? So macho man smells nice in the end, but if it should be about the soul of a fragrance, I would have to give 0/10. Or else: this was my last tested raspberry leather with saffron. What the hell: A point of grace, I only wanted to give it for the sake of the fragrance, but it's not worth it.
By the way, the title is a quotation from Euripides, one of the great Greek poets of tragedies, which seemed appropriate to me. Because Macho Man is a tragedy.
