Interesting Facts
The name of the American textile brand "Nautica" is self-explanatory. All products within its collections directly relate to nautical themes such as the sea, animals, beaches, or shores.

The foundation of "Nautica" goes back to the year 1984. Designer David Chu had acquired the "State-O-Maine" label a year earlier and renamed it "Nautica" because of his passion for the sea. Chu wanted to bring people closer to the unique beauty of the sea with his nautical designs.

Initially, the label's product range included only a few items for men, women, and children from the sports and leisurewear collection. In the following years, "Nautica" branched out internationally and continuously expanded its collection to include more clothing and other product lines. In the meantime, the label has become one of the most popular lifestyle brands with almost 40 product categories, present in 70 countries worldwide.

The "Nautica" portfolio includes casual and functional leisurewear for men, women, and children, as well as various home textiles (blankets, pillows, bedding, etc.), fragrances, watches, and accessories (caps, water bottles, socks, belts, bags, etc.).

In 2003, "Nautica" was acquired by "VF Corporation" and by "Authentic Brands Group" in 2018. After another acquisition in 2020, "Nautica" got a new price structure, which brought the brand into the upper-middle class. But this didn't affect the extensive product selection or categories.
