Holī
What I see in Trayee or what trip it takes me on? Trayee for me is the Indian Holī festival in all its infinite splendor and joy. The festival of colors or also known as Hindu spring festival. During this time the boundary of castes with all its restrictions,regimentations gender orders and social status are removed. One blesses oneself with Gulal. The consecrated, colorful dust. Made from flowers, herbs and roots. This festival is a figurative, colourful frenzy of colour, music and smells. So beautiful you'd think you were dreaming. Let's dream a little bit!
Trayee
As if in a frenzy, you walk through the laughing, dancing and happy masses of people. Colorful saris dance around you in dazzling colors to the beat of the music. The air is fruity and citrusy hot and there is the smell of resinous cannabis. Then suddenly you throw the gulal at each other and lovingly anoint each other's skin with it. The holy and blessed dust. A sea of colors explodes around you and you think it is raining dried, spicy flowers. All the people look like a living and iridescent rainbow dancing away in happy ecstasy. Then the masses part and out of the iridescent, iridescent and colourful dust that floats in the air like a mist, Ganesha emerges meekly smiling and dancing and anoints your forehead with lime green, spicy sweet juices. Followed by a herd of white and magnificently decorated elephants. Kali stands behind you and gently takes you in her many arms and dusts you tenderly with saffron yellow gulal and ground spices. She shows you with one of her many sky-blue arms the way to Vishnu's pearly world serpent that leads to heaven. And so you ride on Durga's tiger up the snake until you come to a stop in front of Brahma who is sitting in a lotus blossom. He takes you tenderly on his lap and all three of his heads smile peacefully at you. The scent of sweet resins and incense rises around you. You feel warm and safe and think your heart would burst with happiness and you would have arrived in divine Nirvana. But this is not so! And so Brahma holds you with his arms like a little child which should see and recognize. And so you look down on the earth. And what you see makes you sad and melancholy. Around the dancing, colourful, dazzling and colourful spot down on earth it is dusty-grey, dull and ashy. Like dull,dusty,smoky vetiver. And you know,.....when the colorful dust has settled,it will soon be that way again everywhere!

Conclusion
Trayee probably couldn't be a better olfactory way to describe India. Trayee smells of the colors and impressions of India. After fruity-milky juices. After crushed spices, herbs and sweetish resins and earthy-green leaves and roots. All underpinned by dry,smoky-sweet incense and milky sandalwood.Trayee is positive,hopeful,colorful-shimmering like the colorful gulal powder of the Holī festival. Trayee is heartbreaking-beautiful like a dazzling sari or an Indian prayer. But it doesn't stop there! You have to follow this perfume to the end to realize that it contains a lot of sadness, melancholy and melancholy. Towards the end, Trayee crumbles to dust and ashes in the form of smoky-dirty and dusty-matte vetiver. A final chord that brings to mind that not everything is as colorful-shimmering and magnificent as it seems.

Who is sensitive enough will recognize it,...certainly even!

In a soma frenzy
Empty the goblet! The soma devoured!
The soma is deity and potion and plant.
The Vedas know how whirling it is!

* *

Godhead who soothes and satiates,
serves mango, banana and lychee
a little girl with a knowing look.

Earthen, clay and dusty,
i am the blind deity at the same time,
that brings peace and resolution.

Jasmine and vanilla and lotus wreaths,
sometimes you rapture and excite, sometimes you beguile and stun You deity in blooming splendour!

* *

I am raptured, in the soma I deal with all three of them:
Gods and humans and asuras And yet I am in everyday life at the same time, in reality.

* *

You are the man who sharpens and braves strong caraway, turmeric, nutmeg also,
wild and alert warrior.

Sage Yogini
Bright, soft, anointing saffron
It connects everything.

I'm the one in sandalwood, so is oud, and cedar I'm a carpenter who supports and maintains.

* *

The hymns, songs and formulas, triple Vedas,
you see in the soma, the three are one,
the one Veda, the wisdom
* *

Tenderest green you are,
the invigorating spirit,
Barley and millet and emmer.

Nourishing and anointing,
white whey, lassi and ghee,
comforting spirit she is.

Myrrh, elemi and styrax,
the holy, lifting spirit,
i am silver, lift up my heart
* *

What has happened in the future will happen now
you are he is she is me /br /> India, humanity, fragrance.

Trayee is for me the exceptional fragrance from the Franco-Indian Neela-Vermeire series created by Duchaufour. Among quite decent scents the one that hits the brain and soul through the nose like a hammer blow. For a long time I had a hard time to write a comment at all, now I present a poor attempt, that's all it is.

The titles of the series all refer to specific periods and aspects of Indian history. Trayee refers to the oldest (considered) phase, the age of Aryan land grabbing in almost mythical prehistory. Trayee means trinity, because this age was the age of the Vedas, the holy chants, and the most important three Vedas, Rigveda (hymns), Samaveda (chants or mantras) and Yajurveda (sacrificial formulas), were and still are called the trinity, the oldest layer of the holy scriptures of the religion, which is developed and reformed today known as Hinduism.

As my pre-commentators have made sufficiently clear, Trayee captivates through an infinite variety of scents, which, as it were, depict the whole of life and more, and yet accomplish the feat of not appearing at least overloaded and opulent, but always remaining completely themselves. One almost wants to say, plain and innocent. Young and simple. And yet they contain everything. Trayee is a gentle, mild fragrance that caresses the nose hairs and the skin and soul, but it is also uplifting, clarifying and strengthening
For my commentary, I have tried to draw on the character of the Vedas as hymnic texts, on the trinity (whose religious meaning of the threefold unity in different religions would go beyond the scope of this brief explanation), on the "unity in diversity" and "simplicity in opulence" described above, which make up this fragrance, and on the soma theme. Soma was a sacred potion of the old Indian religion, which is often mentioned in the old literature (especially in the Vedas), but which cannot be grasped today. Nobody knows exactly what it was made of, and its effects are also described in many different ways, from hallucinogenic to sharpening the perception. This seemed to me to be a fitting analogy for this fragrance.

Finally, A Sexy Incense
Trayee is absolutely gorgeous and quite probably my favorite incense/olibanum perfume. Every note in it is in perfect balance with the rest of the composition, a charming orchestra on which the smoky-sweet incense and spicy ginger dance together a flawless waltz.

The myrrh and incense here are not reminiscent of a church interior, like most perfumes featuring these notes tend to be. This incense is playful, sexy, spirited and has none of the solemn heaviness of Roman Catholicism. The myrrh is soothing and inviting, almost sensual and the ginger is spicy and mischievous as always. All in all, the effect is surprisingly sexual, in the best of ways.

A harmony of aromatic notes give character and ampleness to the whole composition: jammy blackcurrant, fresh cedar, rooty vetiver, aromatic basil, nutty cardamom, bitter saffron, sour oud... all singing together in perfect accord until the drydown, which reveals the amber and vanilla at the very base.

Trayee is a brilliant creation - Bertrand Duchaufour is surely a genius of perfumery! I whole heartedly recommend all 3 perfumes from Neela Vermeire, each of them is a wonderful work of art. But I think Trayee is probably my favorite and a must try for all perfume lovers.

A Fine Effort With A Rough Price Point...
Trayee opens with a relatively strong black current with a slight ginger and watery Oud undertone. During the heart phase of the scent the black current and Oud recede as a combination of clove, cinnamon, saffron and cardamom spice meld with a strong incense accord that dominates the scent's further development. Underpinning the spiced incense is slightly sweet amber rising from the base that couples with relatively sweet sandalwood. As the scent reaches the later stage of its dry-down the spiced balmy myrrh-laced incense remains though in a much more subdued state, pairing with traces of non-powdery vanilla. Projection is above average and longevity is average at about 8 hours on skin.

Trayee has a lot of notes in its scent pyramid and you can tell the composition is indeed extremely complex. The mildly ginger spiced black current open really did not do much for me, but as the scent moved to its key heart stage the spicy incense accord that emerged gradually won me over. Also notable is how Duchaufour deftly folds the vanilla, amber and myrrh from the base into the spiced incense balancing the scent rather well without causing it to enter "too sweet" territory. The bottom line is I know I like Trayee plenty, but I'm on the fence as to recommending it due to its $260 price tag for a 55ml bottle. At nearly $5.00 per ml, I could think of any number of better values out there. That said, composition-wise it is hard to fault this very good smelling 3.5 to 4 star out of 5 effort from the house of Neela Vermeire.

Good to the last drop
Trayee is a very calm and composed fragrance. I am reminded of Serge's Cherugi with a good heaping of the old candies "red hots" while testing. The woodiness is rich and full of flavor with a little sprinkle of cinnamon that keeps it from being too serious. There is nothing loud, in your face, harsh or citrus here. Incense is what they call it, oh it's classy alright.

The quality of the ingredients is front and center. The woody notes combined create a bold and deep elegance while the vanilla levels the smoothness. This would be completely wearable on a cool and sunny winter's day.

I think this would be a good fragrance for a casual social gathering, maybe game night at your best friend's house or for a second date on a picnic in the park. Since these types of settings don't happen ever day it could be reserved for special occasions.

This fragrance reminds me of the way my dad used to smoke a cigar, not very often, only on special occasions, and savored to the very last drop!
