Wanderer between the worlds
In retrospect, it sometimes seems to me that I have already lived several lives.
Not in the sense of rebirth, but in the form of self-contained periods of time, after each of which a serious change took place and a completely new phase of life began. A moulting, so to speak, or a new chapter.

Close Up sends me decades back into a time that seems like a completely different world to me today. Although I grew up in a place that even then called itself a "city", it consisted of several formerly independent neighbouring communities in a rural environment, which at some point were combined and declared a city.
In one of these districts there was a cider factory, where the citizens delivered their apple harvest every autumn, which was pressed there and filled into barrels, where the apple juice was then fermented into must. Also my grandparents always had several barrels in the cellar and when the filling was fresh and the alcohol content was still low, we children also got one or the other glass of it.

I find this not yet fully fermented, fruity cider together with the scent of fresh horse apples exactly in the top note of Close Up. And I like it While the horse droppings in the background constantly resonate, the must becomes increasingly spicy, developing into a Christmassy glow cider with cinnamon and cloves, so to speak.
Now a delicate tobacco note also appears, which is exceptionally well suited to the whole thing.
I also find parallels to Haram/Farah and Ambre Narguilé in the course of the fragrance, but in a direct comparison these two are clearly more almond-marzipan and the horse manure is missing, which makes Close Up so unique for me.
If it is initially very present and easily perceptible, it becomes increasingly quiet and after three or four hours can only be sniffed directly on the skin with the nose.

I find it very tasty and would like to thank the person who gave me this olfactory flashback to the past.

Mature femininity
The first thing you can notice is an intense and powerful powdery, sweetly fruity note, which has a very light jamy consistency and I have tipped on black cherry instead of sour cherry.

At the same time, the sour cherry is enveloped in a very unpleasant sour, animal-like, slightly old-fashioned aura, which reminds me a little bit of a station toilet, which unfortunately hasn't been cleaned for some time and my research has shown that this scent property could well come from green coffee, as its description of scent is declared to be unpleasantly acid
In the background and in my case only directly on the skin, there is a discreet sweet, spicy and aromatic, carnation-like nuance, which gives the top note a certain tangibility and I suspect the use of cinnamon and clove.

A little later a very dense and voluminous deep spicy, very slightly sweet bitter note is perceptible, which reminds me very much of pipe tobacco and comes from the white tobacco
The Tabk is accompanied by another spicy note, which has a light, dry earth-scented tone and gives the fragrance a pleasant depth and comes from Indonesian Patchouli.

In the background, a sweetish, slightly creamy, light rosy note gives a mature feminine aura and comes from the centifolie.

Directly on the skin a deep, discreetly oily dark chocolate shade can be perceived, accompanied by a mystical dark woody note, which gives the fragrance an unexpected heaviness and is due to the Atlas Cedar.

In the last 3.5 hours, a clear, sweet, creamy almondy-like note can be perceived, which brings with it a very fine, powdery, warming, spicy hint, which ensures a pleasant finish and comes from the musk in combination with the tonka bean.

In total, the fragrance lasts 7 hours on my skin.

The Sillage is designed from the beginning in such a way that one is perceived well at half an arm's length and this is maintained also 3 hours in such a way, before it is reduced up to the conclusion of the smell in quiet steps.

Step forward, please!
But not too fast, because the fragrance needs some time. First there's some pretty sour morello cherries - like out of a glass. It follows cumarinig-sweeter as well as coarse-bitter tobacco; the latter even slightly dirty-fecal, real herb.

But it will. Already the third wave of rough patchouli is on the one hand sourish - earthy - spicy, on the other hand first chocolate ambitions show up immediately. They herald an astounding character shift that a woody-grown intermezzo can't stop after half an hour: Soon brownies with dark chocolate will be served. Or rather a chocolate cherry cake.

The tobacco splint also prefers the sweet direction - pipe tobacco. Reminds in style of representatives like 'Tobacco Vanilla' or 'The Odd Fellow's Bouquet'. Above all, however, the name 'Tabac Rouge' rings a bell - undoubtedly because of the cherry. This can no longer be checked, the Phaedon has long since moved on.

The afternoon is dominated by the chocolaty aura of Patchouli; it keeps things cosy. The Kirsch idea, on the other hand, dwindles to occasional distinctive swabs. Fortunately, certain sensations of light wood remain hidden.

I am very positively surprised. Close Up is perhaps the "most beautiful" Olfactive. For me certainly a jag too sweet, but definitely a test tip.

I thank MisterE for the rehearsal.
