Wonderful experience
I don't know much about the house of Olympic Orchids, but I do know that they make amazing fragrances. I was looking for some animalic notes in a fragrance and Olympic Orchids came on my radar.

The design of the fragrance did not say much, I was actually unsure what was in store for me, but I ordered Mardi Gras hoping it would satisfy my animalic need.
It didn't, but it sure made me want to experience more from this house.

Mardi Gras has a very floral opening with a blast of heat and warmth. My first impression is that it has a strong resemblance to Tresor by Lancome. Even though the notes in Tresor are vastly different, Mardi Gras is how I remember Tresor smelling like on the women of my childhood.
It is a quite mature fragrance and in my opinion almost elderly.

Mardi Gras smells like enjoying a spicy and sweet chai in the baking sun of Turkey.
After oxidation, the fragrance becomes less floral and more sweet nestling into your skin. It loses most of its mature quality and becomes a quite sexy, musky fragrance. Very slight hints of incense or benzoin appears making it a deep and wonderful autumn and winter fragrance.

I am honestly at a loss for words, this one is a fragrance you have to try for yourself to understand.

The note composition is linear and consists of orange blossom, civet, benzoin, vanilla, neroli, musk and labdanum according to Fragrantica. Rather than focusing on whether those notes appear in Mardi Gras, I am more focused on the impression and vision that this fragrance gives. I am only missing the element of civet.

Mardi Gras is a definite want to have in my collection.

Timeless elegance and charisma
Interesting perfume with a relatively original scent.
I would highlight I do not know whether to say musky neroli, I do not know whether to say animalic ... but I suppose that in a "general" context of perfumes it is. Without reaching an F. Bianchi in that sense.
With more concentration, maybe they'll tell me he's a Bortnikoff and I'd fit in. Not in the sense of their famous ouds but between a Cyprus du Nord and a L'Heure Exquise.
A smell like this is difficult to find because the balance between the relatively floral, animalic, without going over to the sweet ... and without smelling fougere is not easy.
It is not daytime or super cool but not that dark either.
Anyone who likes things like the ones I have cited or the works of Baruti, Rogue and the like, should give this a try.

It is not a wild record level projection bomb, but it has acceptable power and duration, taking into account the price it has and surely its concentration lower than that seen in this type of odors, with a certain over-application this can go to something quite spectacular.

I smell it unisex and for people with character and charismatic.
The concept of elegance that it has, perhaps a magnetic gothic cut more than exultantly modern ... but without a doubt very overwhelming.

Haunting Orange Blossom
Parades and voodoo in the French quarter. The beautiful orange blossom/neroli top is swiftly turned dirty by unabashed civet and musks, cistus trying to keep things civilized. Eventually it succeeds, with the help of vanilla, leaving you smelling hauntingly good. If this scent attracts the ghost of Marie Laveau, be assured you won't be her victim. As one of the cognoscenti you will walk about with her, casting spells on unprotected hearts. Mardis Gras, a sweetly animalic gem, is just intoxicating.

Nice vanilla, not too sweet or too 'bakery' like. There's support of orange blossom and musk. The civet is just enough skank.
