m'eau de road construction
I was very excited about this scent. I'd never tried any of the Opus Oils, and I like scents that have deep, boozy aspects to them. Not only that, but I saw this on offer at a sample site JUST after I learned what geosmin is. (It's the scent of earth after it has been disturbed or rained on, and it's caused by microorganisms.)
I try to wear things twice before pronouncing any judgment on them, but I'm afraid this will get the once-and-scrubbed treatment. A small dab to my forearm started with a sharp, sulfury scent, like you sometimes get when opening a fresh ream of bleached copy paper. The sulfur developed further and, after about 5 minutes, it came to resemble the smell you get when a road repair crew is patching the road with fresh tar on a hot day. At 25 minutes, it has not evolved further, and I have developed a mild headache.
So it's time for me to go scrub. Meanwhile, I guess I would have been better warned if this had been released by Demeter and named "Hot Tar."
