Bright and transparent
Ormonde Jayne is one of the brands whose creations have a special aesthetic. Sustained by Geza Schöns handwriting, a certain complexity and at the same time a high transparency can be recognized, whereby the scents appear very modern. Royal Elixir also distinguish these qualities, although Nawab of Oudh or Montabaco (Intensivo) seem to me to be comparatively fuller.

As with Ambre Royal this is not a typical amber scent, because in this category you will find mostly heavy resinous and much sweeter chords. Ambre Royal and Royal Elixir are airier, brighter and therefore not really sensual - but I wouldn't call them really fresh either. The special characteristics of both are, besides the light amber, the floral notes with a certain creaminess and the ambroxan, which together with the cedar forms a not at all heavy, woody base.

Royal Elixir is not only stronger for me than Ambre Royal, but also more balanced overall. I smell the green notes right at the beginning and the flowery heart notes are clearly fuller. I can well imagine jasmine, orange blossom and orchid in particular - rose, on the other hand, not at all. When talking about creamy fragrances, different properties can be meant: In this case I must think of high-quality body lotion. The sweetness of the tonka bean fortunately holds back. At Ambre Royal, I perceive it a little more strongly. The radiant scent of the flowers remains present throughout the entire process; only cedar and ambroxan later provide a more woody component, which is more pronounced here than in the predecessor.
(One should not make the mistake by the way and automatically conclude with Ambroxan on rather cheaper made shower gel smells. The Molecule 02 test is recommended in this context.)

The price of 215 € for 50 ml may be a bit daunting, but you get a high quality perfume that is especially suitable for spring and autumn. The overall tendency is more towards stereotypical femininity, but men can also wear Royal Elixir well, because there is no need to worry about floridity and sweetness. (Not that I would appreciate that more in women...) As Maggy4u has already aptly put it, it is a bright glow that the fragrance leaves behind. And so Royal Elixir has an elegant aura that can be perceived by others for hours - my clothes still smell clearly like it the next day.

Royal Elixir is the name for Ambre Royal (EDP) in the perfume version poured at 42% perfume oil concentration. In the first phase (up to approx. 1h) with the EDP, the jasmine is the main actor for me. The elixir is more balanced and lets orange blossom and jasmine sound in harmony. Floral and drawn with more detail.

In general, both fragrances are quite similar, only the Elixir gives me the impression that everything is much more harmonious and delicate. The sweetness of the amber notes seems more filigree and conscious. The fragrance radiates more than the already impressive EDP. With a fragrance as bright as Ambre Royal / Elixir, almost glistening.

Further on the quality of the Ormonde Jayne fragrances shines more and more. The Ambroxan used here creates, also at the perfume concentration of the Elixir, no shower gel vibe, but simply brings more freshness into the Drydown and extends the smell, on my skin, over the 10 hour mark. The fragrance remains ambrier-floral and is complemented by the freshness described above, with light-woody nuances.

With Royal Elixir, Ormonde Jayne presents a fragrance that radiates power and craftsmanship. It fits very well to the trends of the sweeter, floral men's fragrances and combines these with classic approaches. The higher concentration of perfume oil is particularly noticeable in the omnipresent royal rays that seem to emanate from the skin.
