The banalization of the word fame in a fragrance
There was a time - only half a lifetime ago - when 'fame' conjured up images of a diva dressed in billowing sable furs on the gangway of a private plane, her arm full of long-stemmed red roses and her eyelashes curled into a pompom (I borrowed the latter from Max Goldt). She waved graciously to the cheering crowd in a flurry of flashbulbs and called down: 'You were a wonderful audience!' Whether it was an actress or an opera diva is almost irrelevant - as is the fact that people may think differently about sable coats and private planes in 2023. In any case, THAT was 'Fame'.

Today, fame means that an eighteen-year-old with made-up horns in a rag that was shipped halfway around the world in a container by Wish or Shein especially for this one clip generates a hundred thousand likes and ten thousand new followers on TikTok in an hour for a seconds-long dance sequence in a boho backdrop in brass, dusky pink and fake fur. Not that waving from the gangway doesn't still exist, but 'fame' in 2023 is much shorter-lived and therefore more banal than it was almost half a century ago. You may or may not like that.

Paco Rabanne's Fame packs this tendency into a perfume. Here is a fragrance that recognizes and acknowledges its own lifespan - it would be more accurate to say 'its product cycle' - as fleeting and short-lived as it is. Here is the pursuit of the maximum number of (order) clicks within the two or three years it has - and nothing about this fragrance has ever wanted to be remembered. Fame is ephemeral fast fashion in its purest form - like all of Rabanne's since 1 million, and this is perhaps the only one that will ever actually be remembered.

Fame is one of those fruity-metallic fragrances with the - I hesitate to use the adjective 'classic' - triad of fruit plus synthetic-sweet plus warm. They all draw their distinctiveness from their top notes, just as a TikTok video only has a few seconds to attract attention. Here, they have opted for something called mango, which has been grafted onto the same interchangeable, primarkesque base as its unfortunate sisters and brothers. It performs well during the top note, as it has to until PayPal or credit card details have been entered.

Conclusion: four perfumers are supposed to have been involved in this little breeze? Oh please!

Christmas 2022:
Family member, male, 25 years old, comes to our home and says :" Please wrap this for my girlfriend, you can wrap so nicely".

I so "Okay", but only see the kitschy packaging. Everything shiny, kind of cheap, kind of cool too. Reminds me of my childhood, reminds me of 2010, but none of it I find really "beautiful". It's just so ugly and tacky that I can't stop staring at it. So now I wrap the package in equally garish wrapping paper, when I ask where he got it from he just means "Müller".

Well, thought me also nothing more, until a few weeks later he and his girlfriend are invited to dinner at our home. Exuberant as I am I greet both with a big hug, only I notice a damn good smell with her.
"I want that too," I thought to myself the months that followed.

And then, one fine shopping-addicted Wednesday afternoon, I decided to buy away my frustration with this little bottle. What can I say. Was simply in love.

For me, this is a typical summer scent. Have worn the nonstop this year, he makes a good mood. Is of course very sweet, mango halt, but really tasty and makes totally good mood.
H/S are now not above average, but quite okay in my opinion. I had to re-spray after three - four hours to be able to perceive the fragrance again.

Incense and jasmine keep in the background, yet pleasantly noticeable for me in the drydown. Very fine with an exceedingly fruity twist, especially if you like mango.
.... beautiful fragrance for good-humored days.

Headache THANKS to synthetics in C3PO's dress... / RAGE
Hello everyone,

today at this late hour I would like to say a few words about the female C3PO and not so many really good ones.

Many months ago, I think it was 2022/2023, my wife and I went to Douglas (if that's what the LADY wants, then it's going ahead^^), at least when she was looking for something, I took a look around to see what was new and I noticed the female C3PO, yes, quite daring and very cool - so onto the test strip and go...

That was unbelievably one of the worst experiences I've ever had in this regard!
There are fragrances like the entire La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Parfum range that I can't cope with and get shortness of breath (jasmine Sambac), but it's "only" a purely personal problem..., but the Fame is quite modest....

This amount of synthetic allergy is so blatant..., I can't say exactly where to start. You get a headache in a few seconds and this is followed by an onset of malaise... and it's not just me, I know a lot of people like that.

It was also one of the first fragrances where I immediately threw away the test strip. I like to take them home and see what the drydown is like, but phew...

I know the Fame has its FANS and that's certainly totally ok and really cool. If someone likes + wants something like that = go! But I can't stand this kind of fragrance at all. I'm probably the real reason for that = know others, including the niche world, or a lot of Chanel and yes... maybe I'm already too old for it at 35... who knows.

And now have a nice day/evening, or whatever you read this review, LG the Benny

Mango with tropical touch

It is a fragrance that feels very tropical from the beginning.
The handle unfolds quite strongly, although, like a fan, as the rods lower, an undeclared coconut appears, which at the same time aerates that tropical touch, which on my skin, as the minutes go by, intensifies. . .

The top reminds me of the Alien Mugler goddess, perhaps because of the coconut note that I perceive in common and because of the vanilla. However, in the dry down, both fragrances take totally different paths.

Vanilla immediately takes center stage, accompanying the floral notes of jasmine and finally that vanilla lands on a creamy sandalwood base.

In general, it is a perfume that does not keep many secrets, its notes are basically clearly distinguished.

As for the bottle, well, for tastes, colors…

Its sillage is notable and on my skin, with a somewhat difficult pH, it behaves quite well, lasting 6 hours.

Great and unique
Captivating combination of the individual components, I am impressed by how well the top notes and the heart notes, which are present from the very beginning, harmonize with each other.
Sweet mango + tart bergamot + smoky incense that is not reminiscent of Christmas are such a beautifully creative interplay that you didn't know was missing.
Unfortunately, I sometimes have trouble tolerating heavier components and get a slight headache from one of the ingredients (probably frankincense). So I won't be wearing it, but I'm looking forward to smelling it on others at a distance

Starts out synthetic and fruity. Dries down to a woodsy base. Nothing unexpected, but very nice.

Fruity, woody mango scent that is marred by this weird almost sour powdery scent. It's more shame than fame to me.

So many perfumers for such a boring proposal. Synthetic sweet mango on a mediocre woody vanillla base. Incomprensible move.
