Smell me!
For me, Avant l'Amour is probably one of the blackest chypre I know so far. One of the darkest kind and species. A chypre that could undoubtedly be called "sharp". Demanding, highly erotic, possessive and unscrupulously direct. Here nothing is said through the flower. Here we make unambiguous statements. We take what we like. Here, now and immediately! Avant l'Amour is a perfume for the night of nights, for the erotic hunt for physicality and for the insatiable hunger of lust. A perfume with an almost shameless directness and cold-bloodedly beautiful dominance!
Avant l'Amour
Who up to here thinks I'm exaggerating. No, I'm not! I am a great lover of such fragrances. And whoever designed Avant l'Amour was a dark genius and had left nothing out to numb and paralyze the senses. Or as I always like to say. Here the devil sat in the corner and taught when this perfume was created! Here maximum doses of essences were taken and no expense was spared. Waste to perfection! Once you have the oily perfume on your skin, which is almost like an attar, it comes out like a loud scream. All notes seem to want to conquer you at the same time. The force that hits you is overwhelming. The main chord is most concise. A dark, deep-dark and earthy-woody patchouli that is gradually being interspersed with other paralyzing notes. An oily, heavy tuberose blends in with its narcotic floridity. Powdery nuances of iris root and iris nebulize the senses and flutter like dusty moths, bringing softness. Wafer-thin threads of resinous green myrrh flicker through the perfume and gently envelop a tentative fruity note of peach like a snake. Rough, smoky and still true oakmoss seems to grow on the skin like a weave. Wild, tart, rich, smoky green and original! A very large civet creeps through and around your thighs and finally almost kisses you with a wet bite on your neck. Avant l'Amour finally ends in a warm-creamy musk base that is no less animalistic and on an earthy, warm-green camp of dark, muggy-warm moss. Sounds good? Oh yeah, it is!
Conclusion
I only know of two other perfumes that spread such a strong and sexual aura as Avant l'Amour. Tuxedo by Ralph Lauren and 7ᵉ Sens by Sonia Rykiel. These two are similar in concept. Avant l'Amour is powerful. Smallest dosages are enough and you are literally stigmatized. The scent literally sinks into the skin and seems to bite there. It lasts for eternities and the sillage is hard to bypass and break through. Avant l'Amour is not a perfume for weak minds and personalities. It's heavy, engaging, dominant, dominant, captivating, and you make very clear advances. A very stable backbone is more than appropriate here. Otherwise you will be eaten! The shape of the bottle reminds me very much of H.R. Giger and his art in his biomechanical and dark erotic style. You may think what you want about it, but one thing is for sure. The bottle contains what it promises and embodies Darkest, most consuming eroticism!
