The modern man
I've owned Haltane for about a year and a half. Unlike OFG, I find this one younger, more playful and less dry. In short, it's a bit more pleasing.

How does Haltane smell?
Haltane starts relatively fresh (bergamot) and tart due to the lavender note. In the aftermath, one perceives the praline spiced with saffron. But somehow it is much more than that, probably it is the clary sage that makes this fragrance smell so special, or the composition of all(?) Hard to describe...
Imagine the saffron is in the middle as the main character and the base notes: Patchouli, leather and oud stand around the outside and are restrained by a "musk fence". An absolutely brilliant fragrance!

Wearable?
Yes! The typical Parfums de Marly DNA (aka. this slightly oriental) is definitely present. My feeling is that women like this fragrance more than men, probably for the simple reason that it comes across so masculine.

What age?
While I see OFG at Ü35, Haltane can also be worn from Ü25. Prerequisite this man is a beard wearer. Small joke ;-)

Performance?
The durability is very good, holds all day and not necessarily in a skin-tight way. This fragrance projects what brings me to the sillage: 1-1.5m radius for the first few hours.

Conclusion:
Normally, I'm a stickler for the principle of "nothing is as good as the original" ... in this case, it would obviously be Oud for Greatness (OFG). But here I would have to make an exception. Like almost all PdM fragrances, this DNA has been made more pleasing. Speak, something refreshed and sweetened a little with chocolates. And that stands him too!

A clear buy recommendation on my part! But as always, first Proberiechen, then buy.

Parfums de Marly (PDM) Haltane: The better Oud for Greatness (Initio)?
The parallels between Oud for Greatness and Haltane are unmistakable; both go in a similar sweet, saffron-oud fragrance direction. Since I own both fragrances and could test quite extensively in comparison, I have but significant differences in particular in terms of everyday suitability as well as the opening can determine.

- The Haltane is for me personally the better choice. Why? Because this is simply more suitable for everyday use and not so much after "hey I bought an expensive perfume, you smell that too?" screams... The H/S is also extremely good with the Haltane, but not as penetrating as with the Oud for Greatness

- The Haltane has a bit more dynamism, because especially in the top note of the oud-saffron-heavy fragrance is given a certain freshness with the help of bergamot and lavender, which is immediately noticeable at the first spraying on and ensures that the fragrance is perceived more complex and balanced. The Oud for Greatness, on the other hand, ballers from the beginning with the main notes very linear throughout the day.

- In addition, a beautiful praline note was added to the fragrance in the drydown, which really complements the fragrance in the further course great and brings a certain sweetness.

The saffron is - as with the Oud for Greatness - not to be compared with BR540; not medizinal stabbing, but well balanced

The oud is absolutely suitable for the masses and not animalic / stinky; therefore, the Haltane is a good oud beginner fragrance

OfG on a summer evening
Hello everyone, this is my first review and I'm not really the type of person to make long, grand speeches here or to talk your ears off for ages.

It's just that I've been looking for a new fragrance that is suitable for everyday wear for a very long time, one that could possibly accompany me for longer than just one season. I've tried a lot and have been busy buying promising samples. I'm a big oud fan and an even bigger fan when the oud with its rough edges is "wrapped" with other accents or the fragrance can develop together with the oud, but it's not a pure oud club (an Alexandria Orientale and a Gao are popping up in my head right now). I have also tried MFK and an OFG has also made it into my collection as a bottle. I don't need to talk about the parallels, but the OFG is too linear for me, too fall/winter (evening).

Haltane, on the other hand, has a very nice, fresh opening due to the very strongly perceptible bergamot enveloped by a slightly oudy & smoky accompaniment for me (positively smoky, of course). Over time, this interestingly fresh composition gives way and the fragrance becomes more complex and warmer, whereby the oud presence also changes for me, something sweet is added alongside the saffron (a glance at the fragrance pyramid shows that it is praline, well, good). In the long run, which can take quite some time with this work, the fragrance ends very pleasantly warm.
This makes it suitable for me both for spring and for colder or wetter seasons, as well as for both day and night.

I'm not an expert and can't recognize or even distinguish every ingredient, but I hope this helps the average person to get a picture and thus a small impression of the fragrance.

Copy paste from Initio?
As we know, PDM and Initio are "sister companies" and this gives them the luxury of purchasing high quality ingredients at a cheaper price (due to volume) and they can access top perfumers and use them for both of the houses.

I like very much Layton, Herod, Oajan and Musc Therapy .. the rest are questionable for my nose.
Haltane is the big elephant in the room, called Initio Oud for Greatness put in green clothes for Parfums de Marly and with more ML for the price - which is good.

I do not appreciate at all the saffron dose in it, it will take all my air out and I cannot enjoy it - even if I like the complexity of the notes and what the result is. I have a problem with the Saffron notes in many perfumes, not only with the Initio.

Haltane is nice, has high quality lavender and bergamot when it starts .. then it is following with a sweet praline note and a ton of saffron, after that I can´t sniff it anymore.

Thanks for watching my video :)

My oh my oh my…
This is easily in my top 5 PDMs.

Such a gorgeous scent (sorry I haven’t smelled OFG, so I cannot compare). It’s so rich and vibrant. It’s definitely versatile, but it fits better in a scene where one is dressed well, as it will compliment your wardrobe to perfection.

It opens with a thick projection bubble with an easy 3-4ft radius, and easily goes 12+ hours on my skin.

To me I get a sweet, semi nutty feeling leather wavelength. The oud is not off putting; the note itself feels like a higher quality version of the Ferragamo Oud that lasts and lasts.

I’m glad I grabbed it while it’s still cold in the US, because it is simply FANTASTIC.

Worth every penny.

Haltane opens with citruses, saffron and lavender. In the drydown, mainly cedar, green and woody. No oud, maybe just that hint of dark wood.

To my nose its a collision between BR540 & Sauvage Elixir. Saffron and musk are prominent in the drydown and cedar wood as well. Its decent.
