Lush lush lush...
(Vintage version)

Sometimes a heavy perfume works extremely well in warmer days. In winter this is a bit too saucy and oppressive for me, though I love overwhelming scents, like Cuir Mauresque for example or Cedre de Lutens; heavy hitters, but in summertime they are surprisingly 'clean' and crisp!

All I have is a mini, and I guard it like a treasure.
The notes speak for itself: a Must Try.

Reformulated old-school chypre
Review of the 2013 formula:
This used to be great perfume, but imho reformulation ruined it. What I smell today is a copy of Avon's (also reformulated) "Timeless"-fragrance. (Please note that I'm writing this as a lover of chypres). "Or Noir" takes us on a journey through gardens of iris and jasmine, narcissus and patchouli and could be a classic, beautiful French perfume, but the basic melody has been changed and swapped for some artificial and utterly unpleasant mystery of aromachemicals. What emerges is a cloying and "dusty" fragrance, old-fashioned in a bad way.

Modern Take On Classic Style
Or Noir is crafted in the style of traditional French perfume. It reminds me of old perfumes like My Sin and Chanel No. 22. But I honestly think Or Noir is better. It's white flowers (I detect jasmine and gardenia) atop a rich and dark base. The base is velvety black--like the dark heart of a forest full of mossy trees. Cloves and cinnamon seem to add a dry dustiness rather than causing the perfume to be spicy. I personally think this perfume is grossly underrated. I have two bottles.

The bottle for the EdP is completely different from the parfum. It's more like the bottle for Coco Mademoiselle--tall, narrow, rectangular. Very chic.

SUMMARY: Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
