"Pot au Feu" of a special kind
The clearing of the forest lies in the last light of the day, the shadows become longer and the people who have gathered there begin to prepare for the end of the day.
The children are still playing between the trees and in the meadow, but there are many signs that they too are following nature and coming to rest; the movements are slower, the voices quieter.
Suddenly their little noses sniff: a promising scent is already in the twilight.
Is it already time for dinner, being together in the large circle of family and friends?
Above a strong flickering fire hangs a large kettle; it produces a mixture of scents that becomes more and more dense, where you can no longer tell exactly who did what to this simmering mixture and when.
Everyone added to this "pot au feu" what they had just found, what they had brought back from many journeys: a truly international fragrance mixture is spreading.

Bergamots are added to once very valuable spices such as cumin, ginger and black pepper: simply cut into pieces, they stew and smell like that.
It is a giving and taking of the most different scents.
What long journeys had most of them travelled when the merchants brought them back from their dangerous journeys across land and sea: these spices were traded on special exchanges; the rulers of the empires at that time were the first to want to possess these aromatic peculiarities.
Less well, in order to refine their meals with it (one did not take it so exactly at that time); no, the neighbour should know nevertheless that one can afford it! Look ...
Here they simmer together with the bergamot in this kettle and already spread a scent that stimulates the senses.
Heavy golden brown patchouli calves additionally impregnate the air.
Many of the women have generously rubbed their bodies with this oil after an evening bath in the nearby river. Oh, how it smells - what it promises ...
What the hell is that? Chocolate?
Did this little guy, instead of eating them, just throw the big piece of chocolate that was given him into the kettle?
He moaned that this chocolate was too bitter for him: why didn't he give it to one of the other children?
Well, whatever it may be: the bitter-sweet chocolate aroma blends challengingly with, among other things, the unexpected spicy smoke of the Texas cedar.
Who came up with the idea of using this valuable wood to heat the boiler?
Surely that was one of the young boys again: they never learn, they don't think!
Too bad about the wood, but the smoky spice becomes another highlight of this fragrance creation.
Once again a good portion of black pepper, the freshly picked raspberries and a few threads of saffron - oh, what fiery swaths come from this brew!
It won't be long before this meal can be taken as the crowning moment of a long summer day and the gods can be thanked for their gifts.

Women, girls and the "Männerleut'" have dressed up for this dinner in the meantime.
This is such a custom and your robes indicate: this hour is always something very special!
Exotic scented oils, which are stored in carved small, mostly valuable wooden chests, now develop stimulating stimuli on warm skin: sandalwood oil and patchouli were already floating above the clearing, where the shadows now follow their own rules.
Powerful swaths of eroticizing heavy and warming vanilla, resinous spices of benzoin and amber and of course musk now take over the direction: it's done!
"Chaleur Gitane" has found its way to the finale and has united all more or less small and fine aroma facets to a beguilingly fragrant whole: the senses are awake, the skin tickles, warmth spreads ...

Softly hovering, soft guitar tones blend into this sensual picture; one of the young men has sat down in the moss a little away from the fire and the already very tempting meal and lets his fingers glide gently over the strings.
Some of the girls and women, who still do the last steps before the end of the day together, start humming quietly, singing ...
This clearing gradually unfolds a special magic - but it is still in the making.
The rhythm's getting faster, hotter! One of the older ones remembers: did the guitar player not live some time in the circle of Schuckenack Reinhardt at that time?
This explains the fire of tones, which now unites with the full-bodied mixture of aromas!
Original guitar sounds, singing people, loud rhythmic clapping and dancing women who devote themselves to the moment with all their senses -: the forest floor vibrates: that's "Chaleur Gitane"!

Spice and color, fire and rhythm, a sensual intoxication and very, very much magic!
At least that's what the moon thinks, which has risen above the forest in the meantime and marvels at everything - obviously smiling!
He is not disturbed by the rosary-like array of scents; he enjoys them as a whole: he is wise - this moon!
Or is it a goddess who lives up there?
