That's me!
Hello gentle reader (no, I'm not Lady Whistleblower - for all Netflixfans;-)),

while browsing on Parfumo I became aware of the beautiful pictures of @Parfümlein. I particularly liked the mood in the pictures. Then I realized that the pictured animal head is yes the lid of the bottle. What kind of perfume is that? Aha - Changing Constance! There's no such thing, it's got my name on it. I'll just have to test it. A look at the fragrance pyramid: Salted caramel - yes there simma thereby, that will prieehiemaaa!
No sooner said than done, immediately ordered sample and awaited with high voltage to snatch it directly from the postman (yes, I was even faster than my dog).

But then, I did not dare to spray at all, turned the tester always just in my hand. What if I do not like it? Carefully I sniffed the little spray button - mmh ok kind of spicy. I was a bit afraid that the cardamom comes to me funny, because in the kitchen I do not like the stuff at all.

What is it, what are you here for, after all, to test and try. So go on up now with the precious liquid. Yaaahhhhh, it's lovely - sweet, spicy, unusual. I love it!

Flowing, caramel settles on my skin like liquid gold. Balsamic reigns the four spice allspice and lets pepper, cinnamon , nutmeg and clove dance. Everything lies down on soft cashmere. Now and then a touch of salt adds a note to not get boring and the cardamom together with the allspice makes Constance a delicious gingerbread speciality.
In the drydown all the way you against the skin I detect a chocolate note or is that just the chocolate withdrawal for weeks...
I recognize myself in it. Sometimes I peek out, out of my gingerbread house and have everyone eating at me. Then I'm back to being cuddly as cashmere and caring and healing as caramel. Pepper in my butt, who doesn't have that. Sometimes I do things that are definitely not always good for me. Constance has your tobacco. Even though I gave up smoking many years ago, I find a soft tobacco scent quite pleasant.

My pre-commenter DonJuanDeCat has already extensively discussed the brand, the story behind the fragrance and the bottle. To this I can only add something: The bottle is a real hand-flatterer, it is very good in the hand, is heavy and valuable. The lid is also heavy of very good quality. The perfume color is perfectly chosen. But the best, really people, is the spray head. As if an angel wraps you in heavenly molecules.

Yeah right, the longevity and sillage leave a lot to be desired. He holds on me only about 5 hours.

Why I wanted to have this Gouriental or do they say Gourmontal (Gourmand and Oriental) anyway? I love this fragrance and find it special. It already has my name on it so ...My husband loves this fragrance and that means what, most fragrances he finds just ok. I like the story behind the scent, think the bottle is great. By the not so strong sillage I can wear the fragrance in everyday life and office, I like that then especially well and I just spray after a few hours again to the end of work or put on another fragrance;-).
Also, I was lucky, my dear husband gave it to me...he did a good online deal. I'm going to go out on a limb and say my fall/winter signature and I would probably repurchase it again.

If you prefer it stronger, right on the 12 and with more smoke, strong sillage and durability, you might want to try Replica by the Fireplace. Here, too, sugary notes are combined with spices and smoke. However, rather a concept fragrance - still super interesting.

Who likes the fragrance direction in general and likes to have something fruity with it - the can Lira by Xerjoff under the nose.

No fragrance twins but still in the same direction.

All the best, read you.
Your Donnagirl Constanze (I generously overlook the one letter - eh don't judge me;-))

The lady who wears pants
Hello all you noses that want to be stuck everywhere... uh, did that sound kinda ambiguous? If so, grow up and stop giggling, dammit, mu ha ha ha, gotta say though, don't I? :DD

Anyway, today we come to the English brand Penhaligon's, which I often like very much. They've had the "Portraits" range of fragrances for quite some time, which are supposed to tell stories around the British aristocracy, i.e. allusions to the nobility and everyone in high places and their, sometimes mysterious and scandal-ridden, stories, with the characters being fictional as far as I know and only supposed to resemble certain people in history. For this, the fragrances also come in very special flacons, because here the lids represent animal heads, which are supposed to reflect the personalities of the people who are the subject of each fragrance.

Today I'm telling you about Changing Constance, the sister of Lady Blanche, who is exactly the opposite of how a "proper lady" should be just at the time of 100 years ago in the British aristocracy. She doesn't just want to be one of those rich ladies who are just pretty to look at, no she wants to work, she wants to play a real role in society and even wear long trousers (... hot miniskirts hadn't been invented yet, otherwise she would have worn them for sure, at least I hope so :DD). Above all, she just wants to be independent. To do this, she wears fragrances that seem more masculine (woody and spicy scents instead of lovely rosy floral scents) and shocks with it, of course much to the horror of her sister, the entire British high society such, as if the Parfumo Mr. White here at meetings his partly abartig-heftigen fragrances applies, where then everyone would like to run away shocked, he he :D

Anyway, it would probably take too long to tell the whole story here, but if you search for the fragrance, you'll find some pages where everything is written, for example at Aus liebe zum Duft and so. I come therefore now times to the fragrance:

The fragrance:
The fragrance starts with spicy and sweet cardamom and a rather light pepper note. There is a slight salty note in the background. It's a nice start that is still quite unisex for me at first. Gradually the scent then becomes a bit sweeter, you can smell a mix of caramel and vanilla. In addition, the fragrance is also a little softer despite spicy fragrance notes and thus seems soft.
Later, you continue to smell the beautiful mix of caramel, vanilla and soft fragrance notes like cashmeran. Cardamom is also still present, but the pepper notes gradually fade away completely.
In the base, the scent still smells like the nice mix of vanilla, cashmeran, and caramel that I described, though the vanilla is now stronger than the caramel. The cardamom is still there a bit, but the pepper is completely gone. Overall, a nice scent, but not a completely novel one.

The sillage and the durability:
I honestly imagined the sillage to be more intense. It is not bad, but still turned out more mediocre, well, maybe a little more than that, but so really cracking the fragrance has not become now. From a medium distance but still good to smell for a while.
The durability is but quite good, but is also no wonder, vanilla always lasts so long anyway. So here you will be able to smell the fragrance also so at least eight to ten hours well on the skin.

The bottle:
The bottle comes in the usual great but slightly different looking bottles from Penhaligon's, with the lids here showing gilded animal heads. In this one, you can see the head of a,... well who recognizes the animal? Sure, it's an antelope, which is supposed to symbolize Constance's volatility (and also independence), after all, the different animals are supposed to show the different personalities of the people a fragrance is supposed to be about. I really like the concept, as it makes the bottles look even nicer than the normal but also very nice bottles that come with the "bow lids". All in all, as I said, a damn cool and beautiful bottle.

Conclusion:
Soo, so I thought this fragrance was really nice here. I like warm smelling, sweet scents that also seem gentle on the skin. Sure, this one is a women's fragrance, but I just like to imagine how great the scent should be on the skin of you perfumas. It may not be sexy, but it's cuddly soft that may even mask your typical prickliness a bit :D

Test worth it is actually already, but I think you miss certainly nothing if you leave him out, because he comes across despite his beautiful scent but quite familiar and you have the feeling, such fragrances, especially just vanilla and resin combinations have had real often under the nose. I also find that this fragrance could have a little more power, as the fragrance comes across a little weaker than one is used to from such fragrances for its autumnal aura. But it comes in a great bottle, which would certainly look really cool on the shelf.

And that's it from me again. I hope that you are well and you are healthy (... and that you can thus continue your beastliness, uhh... :D) and wish you a nice evening, until then :)

Caramel sky..
You come me but sooooo familiar ... I thought quite honestly that I'm spinning, that I've already tested this fragrance once, even had but that I have me security not... So great is the similarity to a yet so well-known designer fragrance...

Immediately after aufprühen are awakened quite old memory... I must immediately think of an old love that has long since rusted, Prada Candy.... I idolized Prada Candy back when the fragrance was first available for purchase, although H+S was always relatively weak, found the scent so irresistibly delicious... For me, Changing Constance is a 90% twin of Prada Candy.... Changing Constance just has a bit more spice and the longevity is a bit better.... So if you know Prada Candy from the past, you know exactly where Changing Constance is headed, which is to caramel heaven, where everything is made of caramel.... Even the little angels enjoy soft caramel BonBons sprinkled with a bunch of vanilla powder....

The scent is pretty linear and just smells like lukewarm caramel just before the melting is initiated.... Cardamom and allspice gives the fragrance a subtle spice but the main actor is and remains caramel and vanilla.... Who loves creme brulee and has made this delicious dessert, knows how it smells when you caramelize the brown sugar with the Bunsen burner ... Exactly so smells Changing Constance ... To bite delicious ... The fragrance is a gourmand as it stands in the book and certainly a hit for every gourmand lover, I was almost say a safe blind buy but that is just very very arbitrary and nothing new....

Will I buy the. No. My taste has changed and I am since my then love, Prada Candy, 10-15 years older become. Sometimes old love rusts yet.

For the yet quite high price is the me personally just too arbitrary and not so insanely interesting BUT for the very big Gourmand lovers I think the Changing Constance could be a hit in the black... A tester is worth it in any case ... Bon appetite..

Durability is moderate to good, sillage moderate and not intoxicating, as with most Gourmands....

A warm embrace
I wanted to get a taste of the Penhaligon's fragrances, so I ordered a trial set. I'm normally a fan of fresh floral clean scents, which is why I didn't expect to fall in love with this fragrance. I've never really been interested in sweet-gourmand fragrances before.
But this stuff really is like a warm hug. Already sweet but not overwhelming, clear salted caramel, vanilla and a warm spiciness. A perfect feel-good fragrance. I want to smell like this forever.

The catch: lasts from 12 to noon. You can get a little more out of it if you pre-treat the skin accordingly with oil/creams, but this fragrance is not really potent. Silage is mediocre for the first 1-2 hours. Really breaks my heart, because Changing Constance is simply far too expensive for the performance! I'm on the verge of finding a dupe that smells nearly as heavenly. I'm already dreading the day when my sample runs out.

Challenge in Advent: On the way to "my" vanilla scent - 14 December 2019
I'll say it straight away: Changing Constance won't become my vanilla scent, any more than Fève Délicieuse. I thought that only once at the beginning of the Challenge, when I wasn't even aware of how incredibly diverse the subject of vanilla could be interpreted. No, Changing Constance is a Tonka fragrance for me, but since I am part of it, I can immediately announce the result of my very small Tonka fragrance test series. My ranking would be - and I will explain why below - Réminiscence Tonka, Dior Fève Délicieuse, Penhaligon's Changing Constance, Guerlain Tonka Impériale. I like Réminiscence the best, because I feel it a touch creamier and softer than Dior. But then Dior follows directly; I also think this fragrance is grandiose, but a little airier, more pointed. And now to Changing Constance: Yesterday evening I thought: "This must be a dream, it combines the Tonka spiciness of Fève with the tobacco of Tobacco Vanille, it is decided, my Tonka dream". But of course I did the calculation without the host again - or made the judgement without having tested it beforehand. What do I perceive? The spicy sweetness, which opens up right at the beginning, is very, very pleasing. It reminds very strongly of fève, which is no wonder - the tonka bean, which I always enjoy in the vegan cream brulée, is already a very dominant fragrance. In itself, it is perhaps the winter fragrance dream par excellence; now it depends on what the perfumers make of it. I don't like Changing Constance so much that the other notes we're talking about in the pyramid are going very slowly. Unfortunately, by the time I get the chance to perceive salted caramel, a part of the fragrance has already left in the evening - and that is a very serious difference to Diors Fève. While the Fève remains loosely present for six, seven hours, Changing Constance is a very fleeting affair; I wouldn't even rate the shelf life 6.8. Also the Sillage is clearly weaker than with Dior. So apart from the beautiful bottle and the fact that I already have four Penhaligon's fragrances because I really like their things, what could tempt me to choose Changing Constance even though it's even more expensive than Dior? Well, just the fact that the really seductive ingredients of salted caramel and tobacco really do show themselves clearly and make a clear difference to Fève. I'm afraid that's not the case. I tested Changing Constance some time ago in my niche perfumery, on paper and on the skin, and from there also my bottling. At that time I perceived the fragrance as a revelation, today I see it differently. I just think he's too weak for what he wants. I'd definitely go with Fève. But then there is the tested Réminiscence Tonka fragrance and it will be with me next year. This creaminess has neither Dior nor Penhaligon's in the Tonka fragrances, and moreover it is pretty cheap. Oh, yeah, did I mention I can't handle TI? I don't know why, that's the way it is. So I have now made my Tonka decision in the context of this vanilla challenge!

Lovely cardamon and sweet caramel, adored on the first spray but... Quite disappointed as it disappears to just skin scent quite quickly.
