swirls of perfumed light
During the long months of isolation, I learned a lot about fragrances; until then, I had only considered them purely personally, with the stories that the respective fragrance told me on my skin.
Now I also discovered the "noses" behind them: for example, the gentlemen of the Guerlain fragrance dynasty and, so incidentally, François Demachy, whom I hold in high esteem and who creates a multitude of fragrances for Givenchy and Dior.
So I learned to recognize backgrounds and many a fragrance note, which previously seemed to me bulky or even wrong in its place of the mosaic, opened up to me.
Certainly never completely; but I learned to read and listen with my senses: I learned to experience a fragrance!

With this in mind, I am of course even more curious than before and also wanted to know:

What inspired Jean-Claude Ellena to create his composition "Mimosa Tanneron"; a beautiful pearl in the "Collection de Grasse" of the house of Perris Monte Carlo?

And quickly I found what I was looking for. So Albert Camus wrote to his lover, the actress Maria Casarès:
"I will take you to Tanneron, on the other side of the moor, on a day of howling wind and brilliant sun. The passage runs in the sky amidst an opulent landscape, with slopes fading beneath the mimosas. I came home with yellow spots before my eyes and a whirl of light within me."
Expansive moors, criss-crossed by paths bordered with hawthorn hedges, and the yellow serenity of the mimosas - yes, that explains this earthy, radiant scent of nature that spreads quite quickly and greets me kindly.
Like a summer day in Provence: warm, spicy and enticing; this day should be enjoyed to the fullest and with open senses.

Not only the spicy, earthy tartness of the small flower balls of mimosa, but also their sometimes almost numbing sweetness quickly develops and greets with a radiant smile.
Hawthorn hedges are right in front of our house and during the flowering at the end of April/beginning of May their powerful wafts of fragrance drift into the apartments. It's hard to escape them.
Especially when the white umbels are in a state of slight decay, their scent always reminds me of wet diapers.
But here, as companions through the tart living nature, they stand in bright bloom, generously distributing their spicy waves of fragrance dancing in the wind.
Something original is developing. In this overall fragrance picture is also the rose, this time not elegant and noble, but rather down-to-earth-rustic, harmonious and fragrant fit.
Who knows who put these plants here and then forgot?
In any case, they know their value in this fragrance composition.
Tart-spicy, sweet and floral, rooted in dark earth, "Mimosa Tanneron" strives towards its goal.
A senses warming cloak of white musk completes this fragrance walk through the nature of Provence very skillfully.

I greeted this bottling with joy and curiosity, watching and marveling at the wonderful evolution of its fragrant contents into something tender and loving.
How much love and dedication may have gone into the development of this fragrance creature?
"Mimosa Tanneron" seduces for a few hours in the sunny south of France; the not always lovely, but also tart-beautiful Provence opens here.

A not everyday fragrance accommodates the classic flacon of Perris Monte Carlo, but
"fragrant scent swirl!"

Refined spirit of Spring
Just 24 km from Cannes, in France, there is a lovely place called Tanneron, where every year the inhabitants of the city organize a festival, in the month of February, dedicated to mimosa. Yes, the very fluffy beauty that we are used to seeing on March 8th, well known as International Women’s Day.

Tourist routes are described along the southern coast of France, accurate to local attractions and local mimosa nurseries. There is something to strive for after quarantine.

Even as a young girl, I made a herbarium out of mimosa for my collection. Mimosa leaves have an amazing ability to shrink at any touch, and surprisingly, they have nothing to do with the mimosa to which we are used to. This tree has pink fluffy peduncles, and our yellow beauty has a completely different name - silver acacia.

In California we have another species of acacia, Acacia pycnantha, which was brought in by immigrants from Australia. This plant has adapted well to temperature changes from a hot, sultry climate to the first frost.

In Los Gatos, California, there is Vasona Park, where you can find another species of acacia, blackwood acacia, which blooms along local waters in early spring. Photo enthusiasts are literally looking for a yellow cascade of bloom for their clients. This bloom attracts a lot of bees and if you come closer you can literally drown in this bright, fluffy honey whirlpool.

The fragrance was created in 2020 by the legendary Jean-Claude Ellena, who already has 116 masterly performed compositions behind him.

The scent of mimosa is a rather complex accord, which not all perfumers can handle, in order to keep all the components of the composition in harmony, not only experience is needed, but also a sense of balance.

This sophisticated and completely non-flashy scent opens up new facets without a lethal trail. Very beautiful floral-powdery scale with notes of mimosa, hawthorn and rose. Balanced white musk lends a special charm to the base of the palette.

For me this calm scent is a real discovery this year. The sweetness that remains after application makes you come back for that sip of freshness from the spring bloom. I catch myself on an involuntary smile. It opens up very nicely in cool weather. Definitely to wear in Spring.

The bottle itself is made in tinted, heavy glass with gold trim. This fragrance is worth such an expensive frame.

I love this flower-powdery scent.

Haystacked. Heartbroken.
Like when you
lost in hay
on the search
after the mildness

You somewhere
were lost
and the insight
that makes you
nor any thunderstorm -
even the smallest -
will catch up with you.

Search for beech trees
and avoid pastures -
which is already there anyway,
the trellis.

On your houseboat
of harmless togetherness
do you want to
the summer
to say goodbye
do the honors
and you invited everybody,
that are
in the last weeks
made indispensable,
storming your heart,
your pockets lightened
and you
for stupid...

...like you didn't notice...

Sometimes it is helpful,
to play a little dumber,
than you really are
But who do I tell
it's raining
not now,
because the paper lanterns -
they shine in all colours -
do not tolerate the drops,
and it would be a pity when it rained.

You have
a large number of them
to celebrate the day
and some still
with a little bell:
once in a lifetime
Mike Oldfield
"Tubular Bells" and all that.

When it dawns,
already prevails
a colourful bustle
around you.

Harmless, peaceful waves
gently weigh the boat
and the vibrations in the air
many hearts could
to find each other.
Yeah, could
your guests are
so far
not published,
and so you take the place cards,
bless her
and burn them
in the embers
a hundred thousand heartfires,
that makes you
and the boat
wrapped in tender swaths.

So you're spending this evening alone
and you tell the
( beginning ? )
Summer Adieu.

A smell like a stay in a haystack:
collected heat between the grasses,
almost damp and steaming,
as comfortable as a caress.

A dry wooden door stands half open
and the sun is constantly storming in.
Brings with it the scent of all kinds of flowers,
which is outside
is in full bloom.

A melancholic scent,
because he's in the being
the becoming
Lost hay.

A beautiful mimosa with a twist
The most beautiful mimosa perfume I have recently encountered. It is delightfully fluffy, full of life-like happy yellow mimosa flowers and cheerful lightness. But being the work of two great talents (the perfumer and the creative director) if avoids being simple and pretty for prettiness sake. Here, mimosa is combined with hawthorn and it adds a very cool modern twist to the composition. The dose of hawthorn has just enough honeyed tartness to add depth, substance and character to the perfume. I'd say a must-smell if you are into happy, airy floral fragrances.

Bright, honeyed mimosa, not quite powdery, in fact kinda liquid to me, a bit of green. A ray of sunshine, works well with heat. So happy!
