As a fragrance interesting, as a perfume difficult
As a lover of animal scents, I was of course very excited about the only - at least to me - perfume with a skunk chord. I already knew the pure smell - I don't want to call it a fragrance - in a highly diluted form and was forewarned. And I was not disappointed
In "Far NWest" the skunk can be clearly smelled even in the first seconds. But this subsides quite quickly, and then fir, caraway and cedar join in a rather pleasant combination.
So far, so good. Until then, it's very portable, I think. But the story goes on, and it gets more complicated. Fir caraway and cedar are receding, and the Choya Loban (Indian incense Boswellia serrata) is now showing itself, and in a very powerful way. At this point the fragrance becomes very balsamic, but is still well tolerated.
In the further course of the piece, however, the overall composition becomes more and more barnyard. I can now best compare it to a very strict Chinese Hainan oud I have, even if there is no oud in it.
What is my conclusion now? I like Far NWest. The scent is highly exciting and shows an extraordinary number of facets. But I cannot recommend it as a perfume. It is too experimental for that. It would overwhelm the environment in a stronger concentration, I think. But if you want to smell something extraordinary and don't shy away from animal scents, you can certainly dare to take the adventure
