le grand tour!
Pierre Bourdon has received more attention again through the book "Ghost parfumer".
In his work and the perfume here, in his own collection, the special strength is expressed to represent freshness refined. As is often the case with Pierre Bourdon fragrances, everything starts very innocently fresh. I perceive here a green cloud, already encased in a cashmere-like, yellow-white belt of a gently pearl-like consistency. The union of the two structures is perfect from the start. In the background, a slight warmth is maintained by the spices (which fuels so strongly in "Live Jazz", Pierre Bourdon). The color association old white-green, which is already depicted on the bottle case, one could now, as on the then existing Pierre Bourdon website, mentally associate with a (green?) Convertible in a warm or hot Mediterranean "idyll".
Particularly noteworthy is the moderate sillage, again the image of a cloud that does not expand too far in contrast to "linear spreading" perfumes that "jump" at you or "rush towards you". This fragrance circles around itself, you can imagine a small cloud over the Mediterranean "idyll", solidified in itself. The creator had nothing more to prove and by remaining faithful to his "color spectrum", he seems to smile ironically at the taster: "Hey I can still do it, again different". Possibly you can still make out the magnolia, for me Bourdon's "signature" ingredient, the image of a pastel green jacket with magnolia on the chest comes to mind. The fragrance is libertarian and egalitarian in that all the ingredients seem connected and equal. A comparison with Joop's Nightflight, which I perceive as blue-red, reveals this driving force in the background, slightly aquatic, like a strong engine that drives the fragrance forward, as a commonality.
Just as a convertible ride may not last forever, but ends in a cafe, le grand tour also says goodbye artfully before becoming intrusive, I would talk about fading in this case. As always with the perfumer, the idea, and his idea of the strongest possible intensification of the same, seems to be in the foreground anyway, before a purely sensual experience. Thus, the title could also be easily understood ironically.
A very French, individual, matter.

Melon on city tour
"Le Grand Tour" by master nose Pierre Bourdon is, despite clear affinities, absolutely no copy of his own bestseller, "Green Irish Tweet". This fruity, warm signature scent is much more of a light, ever-present and likeable travel companion - if you can get along with watery melons and dull green figs... Which unfortunately is not the case with me!
This "big round" is a luxurious holiday scent that I respect and appreciate, but do not like (wear). Sounds funny, but it is. Sweaty fig juice meets Mediterranean sun, unripe fruits in the sea kiss minimal tea squadrons, all underlaid with balsamic patchouli. Not mine. Nice. Nice. High-quality. But not mine at all. And it's not just because of the intense scorching heat right now, which is generally less suited to scent testing. But here I am sure: we will (unfortunately) no longer be friends...

Flacon: golden, successful, simple
Sillage: defensive, a fruity-creamy veil
Shelf life: 6 hours despite disgusting sweaty weather - with normal temperatures there's even more in it!

Bottom line, fig and melon... Whew. Two fruits I've always struggled with. It's no different here, in this fruity, warm GIT cousin. Still, despite my personal dislike, Bourdon gets a lot out of it... that too is masterly. It's just not my taste.
