A stormy lake and a spicy forest in the Auvergne
Pierre Guillaume, as described in his fragrance guide, created this fragrance at the Lac d'Auvergne, where he himself has a domicile. inspired him to create this composition, to which he gave a "patchwork name": "Aqwindia" stands for "water-wind day" ("aq" = water, wind is clear, "dia" = day).
A quiet, mirror-smooth lake, surrounded by tall coniferous trees that offer a view of a mountain range stretching behind it, perhaps the Chaîne des Puys of the Massif Central, is shown in the photo of the Aqwindia presentation in Pierre Guillaume's perfume guide. A water-wind day at Lac d'Auvergne - associations of freshness, effervescence, sharp wind make the beautiful lake appear in a different light: it is a windy summer's day, grey clouds cover the sky, the lake offers an incomparable spectacle through the rippling water, the conifers swaying in the wind, the diffuse light of the clouds through which a ray of sunlight flashes in between. Pierre Guillaume wears his windproof designer outdoor clothes, sits on this beautiful jetty, which - situated on a narrow side of the lake - offers a view over the entire length of the lake. Because it is quite cool, but Pierre is also quite cool, he enjoys the stormy wind, the sharp breeze, and is fascinated by the ever-changing cloud formations that the sky creates, and their reflection, which can only be caught for seconds, when the otherwise quiet surface of the lake, now violently agitated, becomes a little calmer for a moment. Against the biting cold, he sips his green tea every now and then, which he has brought with him in a chic metal thermos flask. For the ultimate freshness kick, he has added a few fresh mint leaves, which he lets grow in his garden in large terracotta pots. Aaahhh... it's so refreshing, the wind, the fresh but warming tea... take a deep breath and open your nostrils... or does that freshness, that aquatic breath of the lake come...? But wait, there is something else, the warm scent of cedar and elemi resin permeates the freshness and gives it a spicy tone of wood warmed in the sun, now whipped by the wind... and aren't there also notes of a very oriental kind, pepper and tonka bean, which add something sweet and peppery to the aquatic spice? Or is he just imagining it because he thinks of last night, of the wonderful Moroccan dessert? No, there is no doubt that it smells an intense spicy note here, it must come from the forest floor, this incredibly rich terroir, in which countless flowers sprout between moss and trees and the most diverse forest animals cavort. Yes, it's a Maggi tone that floats spicily above everything and reminds us of the wild boars that are peacefully slumbering here deep in the forest. And it's a powdery, soft note that he notices only very late, from the yellow iris that grows on the marshy ground of the mountain, "under the icy breeze of the mountain winds" (so the text in the perfume guide says). It is an inimitable mixture of different scents, which he perceives here at the edge of the lake, on this stormy day, and which he captures in "Aqwindia". Thus an olfactory painting is created in his thoughts: Aqwindia - Water-Wind Day in Auvergne.
