Too Short A Life
By Night Black goes on smelling papery, slightly damp, and a tad fruity, and grows musky as it spreads through the air. Very classy. Even seductive, I would imagine. About fifteen minutes in, it has reached an equilibrium between the musk and the paper, with the fruit taking a back seat. The musk grows oily and it feels large, solid, serious. Alas, this is not to last. In time, it dies down to 3" of silage, with heat occasionally bringing it back to life, but soon it has expired forever.
This is a familiar tragedy; like Dior Homme, this is another great scent that I can't enjoy because it leaves too soon. The Birthday Massacre runs through my head as it rains outside, "Making hollow the promises of yesterday."
