The green city

I was once again a few days in the old home - Hanover. What in Munich the peace angel is in Hanover the Waterloo column. In Munich the peace angel shines, in Hanover it is weathered, commemorates the battle in Waterloo 1815. But that's just the difference. In Munich, everything is always spick and span, and Hanover, well, so-so. Hanover is for me VW, Schützenfest, Herrenhäuser Gardens, Eilenriede, Expo City and Reimanns' Clichy.

Hanover has not become a world city even through the Expo, but it has something. It is green, probably the greenest city in Germany and for me the memory of the start of my professional career - here I learned everything I can do today.
Niki de Sant Phalle's figures are everywhere and there's even a promenade in honour of the artist. This used to be the Passerelle, an underground shopping arcade that used to stretch from Raschplatz to Kröpcke. Breakfast always at the Mezzo - "Texas", still there today: scrambled eggs, bacon, great box white bread, peanut butter, ketchup and coffee with milk. After a night in the Palo Palo the Wiederfitmacher.

Hanover is like Victrix, green, mossy, bissi peppery. A scent for nature people, strong and persistent, kind of grassy. An all-round feel-good scent. I think of rain, forest, walking on moss. You can smell the laurel quite well and I didn't think I would like laurel in perfume. And it has a flower shop feel to it, but more the corner of greenery to fill. Victrix is very oily, so watch out when spraying with clothes.

The Legendary

The days are still short. Fragrances with a certain heaviness define the picture on the console above my sink, spicy and leathery notes dominate the scenery. Nevertheless, the jump into spring is noticeable especially in the evening hours, when it is not already 16:30 kuhnacht. And so the legitimate question arises for the inclined perfumer about a suitable new or alternative fragrance for the warmer and hopefully soon to come season.

Enriched by countless comments on this website (and I'm a big fan of all of you, although I sometimes have a completely contrary view of things, but that doesn't matter, that's how the market comes about) combined with some own ideas equipped so made on the way to my favoriteriechoase. Six scents tested, already at the absolute limit of what my spice tester is able to process. And one was immediately and lastingly stuck. Victrix.

Victrix. That's a very special name for a perfume. Anyone who ever had Latin at school may remember that over 2000 years ago there was the famous victorious 6th Legion of Emperor Octavian, called Legio VI Victrix. Hmmmm, a scent that makes you the winner? And if so, about whom? Profumum Roma creations actually have a slight tendency towards theatricality. The spelling PROFVMVM ROMA already indicates this. And also many a further naming does not lack a certain inventive streak. Actually missing a brand or a fragrance called SPQR :-)

But let's get back to the subject. Victrix starts off fresh, incredibly fresh even, a real wake-up caller, a high flyer and a display stand. The green element in the composition is due to the moss, which I see neither as musty nor too dominant. Essentially, it is a beautiful, splendid newling with slightly green attributes. Point taken. In fact, I could stop here. Because, like all the PRs I've tested (and bought) so far, Victrix remains completely one-dimensional. Which can also be super good, as in most PR cases and so here, too. Note on your own account: All PRs leave an oily film on the skin - watch out for white blouses/shirts or other sensitive clothing that could irreversibly damage.

Shelf life: PR stands for enormous values, and by the way not only with Orientals or sweetlings, but also very remarkable with aquatic representatives. Almost unique. I'm talking about >10 hours, so a real bringer.

Sillage: Analog. Also here a declaration of war from PR. Clearly audible, large haze circle, everyone notices when you are there :-)

Flacon: Matching the content, unagitated, slightly luxurious touch without being precious in any way.

Fragrance: For May-September, from my point of view rather for my male contemporaries due to the somewhat bitter impact. Big PR. Maybe even the best.

For whom: All those who are looking for an evergreen for warmer days will find what they are looking for here. If Acqua Viva is too citric, Acqua di Sale too "seay" and salty and Ichnusa not fresh enough, a test is highly recommended.

For me a summer classic.

Laurus nobilis

The laurel wreath to the winner!
What were those still for victory ceremonies, when really the winner a laurel wreath , usually still with a large bow and sometimes also gold-painted - was presented.
Whether a small one, which was placed on the head, or the large ones - which I still know from car races and boxing matches - which lay on the shoulders:
So the triumph was so properly celebrated!
(How poor in comparison seem today a medal and a bouquet of flowers!)

Perhaps that is why in "Victrix" the strong, somewhat bulky scent of laurel leads the way.
Tart and full of power: the leaves shining as if lacquered and the dark brown wood appear clearly before the inner eye.
Even if oak moss is so emphasized here in the pyramid: for me, this creation by Profumum Roma is a laurel fragrance.

The radiant laurel is accompanied here by the mystery of oakmoss; and so, in the course of its creation and time on my skin, this fragrance network reminds me of the proverbial English "misty weather": the initially clear impression slowly becomes a bit foggier; but remains impressive nonetheless!
Perhaps this is due to the interesting addition of pink pepper and coriander.
In these slightly opaque swathes of fragrance lies a secret that the so radiant prelude does not suggest.
Now this is truly nothing that detracts from the extraordinary freshness of this fragrance; it becomes more interesting because of it!
Fresh and iridescent in different shades of green, "Victrix" settles on my skin and makes itself there not only for a few hours.
Because my thick bathrobe, which came into contact with him at some point during our time together, still smells of it today!
Still pleasantly fresh, although already a little less powerful: faithful he is, this fragrance powerhouse!

Successfully circumnavigating green faux pas

Green scents like to fall into the trap, and Victrix does not.

-He is not a tender little plant, which hardly pulled from the bottle miserably shrinks, but seems to unfold on my skin so properly

-It also does not start too modern and after half an hour does not turn into a watery syrup that smells like vanilla or caramel, but remains true to its color

-He does not reflect to me an artificial lawn, which one may not even enter then to all mischief, let alone lie down in it

-Victirx is not a photoshopped garden in which the eternally same weather flickers

-nor is it put-upon masculine or razor-sharp like some from the barber shop

-it doesn't get lost in a dark fir forest, (nothing against resinous forest scents, but then Victirx is rather not a forest scent, or maybe it is?

-Well - somehow Victrix manages to sell me an ivy-colored green that I'm sure exists somewhere - just not here, alas.

Anyway, long live the illusion, and for victoriously circumnavigating so many blunders, I think Victrix has rightfully earned his name.

Hollister in the woods?

The fragrance is initially strong in its green notes, but not too dark. Unlike other oakmoss and herbal scents I have tested, this one strikes me with a pleasantly fresh - almost aquatic - facet. In addition, it smells to me above all like pine needles. At the first test my roommate said that the scent reminded him of the smell of hollister shops. I have to agree with him there. The scent also has a more youthful side to it. But it doesn't smell negative or even cheap to me - in contrast to the shops mentioned - because of the herbal context.

In my opinion, the fragrance remains too cool for leisure time, but it is well suited for work if you want to smell something more unusual.
