Between glass cleaner and hand cream
Exactly 10 years ago to the day, I wrote and published my review of a fragrance from the RPL Maison label. At the time, I was referring to XIII Eau d'Ambre, which I was less impressed with.
A decade later, it's now XI's turn, but here, too, the olfactory spark doesn't want to jump over. The eau de cologne starts off a little sharp due to the lavender and a little creamy thanks to petitgrain and orange blossom plus powder. However, this almost goes in the direction of glass cleaner with hand cream. Disturbing, but fortunately not long or turns more into the latter.
A little later, the specified ingredients come out better, at least orange blossom and lavender seem a little more subdued and cleaner. The rest does not come through and cannot be perceived.
Amber, benzoin and vanilla are only theoretically present or extremely faint in the drydown. Accordingly, both durability and projection are limited overall.
What lingers is the first unpleasant cloud, which hints at freshness and florality, but drifts more towards the synthetic with a subtle trace of rusty water.
Nope - this is only partially beautiful and has since been removed from the range by RPL Maison. At least you can no longer see the cologne version on their website, but the Eau Riante from XI, i.e. the eau de parfum with identical content, but probably in a more intense concentration.
RPL Maison and me - there's probably nothing left.
