Ambrosia - Jelly Syrup
Tonka was a real surprise for me.
With a name like "Tonka" I expect actually Tonka full... is here but definitely not so. One smells the tonka bean already, but for the naming that is not enough, in my opinion.
Yes how does the fragrance smell the then?
That's actually quite easy.
Honey....Ambrosia -Gods Syrup!
More specifically, it smells like aniseed honey. I love anise, I love to eat it and I love to smell it incredibly. Anise is really special.
The honey is quite thick, viscous but not oversweet, but full-bodied, great tasting, slightly smoky, strongly spicy, warm and creamy.
Tonka smells like a Christmas spice pudding with tonka vanilla sauce, drizzled with aniseed honey. DELICIOUS.
It starts off really lightly fresh though, bergamot is only very briefly smelled.
Very slight sprinkles of jasmine I also detect, but not present. Clove shimmers through every now and then, but not obtrusive.
The fragrance has a great progression and turns into a slightly smoky scent after hours.
Who loves Gourmands, drives with Tonka 100% well.
The bottle is very pretty, in the latest edition without stars, clean lines, slightly curved bottle.
The price is hot and the durability is bomb, silage is in the upper third for me.
This warm gourmand has done it to me and will certainly accompany me often in autumn / winter.

Honey bath in Lake Tonka!
Attention diabetics, it gets dangerous from here. The honey is spread on the neck and sugar-coated with tonka. For sweet-mouths a feast for the senses, but everyone else please keep your hands off. Here no calories are counted but a sugar orgy is celebrated.

I have to say that this honey scent at the beginning is very tempting, but when after a few minutes these masses of sugar appear, I am literally out. This kills every nose, even in severe colds.

So maybe this scent is just right for a winter holiday in appropriate conditions (20 degrees minus, snow, glaciers, icebergs). But unfortunately no fragrance companion for me.

Like a warming alpaca scarf
The tonka bean must be a pretty spicy fruit. Because "Tonka" is sooo spicy, so wonderfully sweet. However, the other ingredients also make you happy: fine spices from the gingerbread bakery, a little citrus splash to go with it, the indispensable marzipan-almond touch, sweet, golden yellow honey, which is also part of the gingerbread bakery, and of course vanilla. The whole thing is finely accompanied by strong musk and powdery-creamy jasmine, so that the matter does not become too sweet and not too gourmand.
I believe that this objective has been perfectly achieved. "Tonka" is an unbelievably pleasant winter scent that can be worn anywhere in moderation, but I think it's best for an extended stroll around town. On the one hand, its durability is fabulous, and on the other hand, it is enveloped in a complex, finely spiced fragrance whose numerous facets, especially those of musk and jasmine, make the sweet gourmand scent also very suitable for the public. And because of these bitter, unsweet components, you won't get tired of the fragrance even during a long day, because it is sweet, spicy and a little bit tart at the same time, unlike pure gourmet fragrances.
How he compares with "Fève Délicieuse", I have already spoken about that at that point: I just like him better. For me, this is due to its creaminess, which sets in just seconds after the order. It is soft and gentle, but not volatile, but warms you all day long with a balanced abundance of individual spices, none of which would be unpleasantly dominant, at least in my case. "Fève", on the other hand, seems much, much more ethereal, lighter. It is not less durable, but more a breath of air that spicy over you, more a fluffy silk scarf than a thick alpaca scarf. The scents seem to me more like airy echoes of their material counterparts - is this what the head-space process does? Anyway, reminiscences can also be found in "Tonka" by Réminiscence, but I find them more down to earth and somehow more tangible. That's why I prefer the latter in winter, even though I like the other one almost as much

A taste of honey
This typical fall-winter scent has two faces: charming and cocooning.I didn't smelled the bergamot at the top, but an intoxicating clove involved me in a spicy cloud.
Then, the noticeable honey and cistus heart arrived, with its cocooning character, sweet and warm. But the notes which last for a few hours are the tonka bean, the musk (very soft ) and a well balanced vanilla not at all sweetish .
This scent is like a cachemire scarf , soft and warm but also very charming and refined with its above -average sillage ,classy and dicrete but also charming.
The bottle is minimal but refined and the price is quite high , but if you're looking for "a taste of honey" (as the famous song) and for a moment or sweetness, you've found your scent!

Wrong name
If you love honey, "Tonka" should go on your testlist. It's an extremely sweet, lush scent for everybody who adores the aroma of honey, anise, vanilla, almond and tonka, of course. I can't stand the strong honey note - this fragrance is a no-go for me. But as I said: If you are into honey, give it a try, it's much better than "Honey" by Marc Jacobs. "Tonka" might be okay for X-Mas and winter in general, but it is very monothematic and too much on the culinary/gourmandy side for me. I had to scrub it off as fast as possible.
